Oregon, in the home f Mr. p.nd Mrs. Fred Heitzhausen id sons. Leavinc here in June, Janis reached Portland in time to take in the Rose Festival which fea tured 100 floats and 2B bands. She also took advantage of Fket Pav and visited the various tvpes cf navy vessels, going through i destroyer and down into a sub marine, among other things. An inspiring and aweeome siht was the gratto and shrine of Our Sorrowful Mother near Portland, where the life-size figures were hewn into the mountainside and produced an impressive effect in their natural scenic setting. Janis also enjoyed the ski lift ft Mount IIooc, the Lambert rar ders and the Bonneville dam. Making trips into Washinrton and along the coast, she vis;f d .ir farms in the two .-tatts and Vent through vera! ;;rt shons. Durirg her ft ay in the North west Janis was honored at sev eral parties.
