The latter celebrated his 80th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Junior Noyes gave a birthday dinner for him and in the eve ning Mr. and Mrs. Harold Koop, called at his home with a birthday cake and ice cream. Little Pat Maier also presented Mr. Mav field with a birthday cake which was baked bv Miss Ruth Maier. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Roebeck Tiave bern enioving a visit with their sister-ni-law. Miss Lois Porter of Platts mouth was a weekend guest at the Will Oliver home near Man ley. Miss Dorothy Koop came out from Lincoln to spend the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Koop. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller of Omaha spent Saturday and Sun day at the Glen Miller home. John Crane , returned Saturday from Hastings where he spent the past week to be be near his sister who was in a hsopital there. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Correspondent Mrs. George Hall had the mis fortune to fall Monday afternoon and break her hip. She, with her guests, Mrs. Marjory Hall, Mrs. Dorothea Red and Mr. and Mrs. David Bornemeier, all of Lin coln were assisting with some decorative work at the home of her sister, Miss Anna McFall when the accident occurred Mrs. Hall was taken to Bryan Memor ial hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Rauth of Manley, were business visitors in Elmwood on Monday. While here they visited with some old time friends. Dale Wilson of Lincoln is spend ing part of his vacation time this week working at the Gonzales farm. Friends here received word of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. Roper of Kansas City. She is the former Donna Steffin, high school teacher here. Mrs. Laura Deles Dernier en joyed a visit last week from Fri day until Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marion Sisco, and family at Syracuse. On Sun day they were all guests of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Halvorsen when they had a family dinner there. There were nineteen present that day. Mrs. Deles Dernier also at tended church and Sunday school at Syracuse. Murdock high school baseball team played Alvo here Tuesday afternoon winning by a score of 15 to 2. The Murdock Fire department is being reorganized and they will sponsor .the kittcnball games this summer.
