Mrs. Clare Magnuson, of Omaha. Deoartment of Nebraska Child Welfare chairman will be present and will also attend the meeting fo the Auxiliary at the Legion rooms. Scout Rally ' at LonNvHle About 7.1 bovs and Fout leaders attended the Scout rally in Louis ville Thursday night. This was the third in a series of such meet ires, the ethers beine at WeeDing Water and Plattsmouth. A busi ness session was held followed by a program of stunts bv each troop and the showing of two moving pictures. Lunch was served at the close bv the host troop. Carl J. Schneider, Cass cunotv chairman, presided. Wavne Nel son, field executive of the Corn husker council, outlined and ex plained the summer program. In May there will be a merit badce show in Nebraska Citv. The Mother's Dav court and the Com mando Camparee will also take place In May. The summer camp will be held in June and the swim ming meet in July. . Tribute was paid to Rev. J. W. Taenzler for his leadershin In Scout work In the district and in Plattsmouth. The Rev. Mr. Taen zler is leader of the bovs in the Christian church and Is scout master of Troop 367. Having ac cepted a call to Pawnee City, he will l"v tor his new pastorate after Ea-ter. Rural Schools Play Baseball Games Friday The pupils and the teacher of Jean school, Dist. 3, were hosts Friday afternoon to the pupils and teacher of Horning school, Dist. 2, when the schools met for a baseball game. Good sports manship spirit was shown throughout the game which was won by the Jean school. A return game to be played at the Horn ing school is planned. Mrs. Kath rine Sandin is the teacher at Jean school. Neil Lancaster teaches at Horning. Rehearsals Progressing for Senior Class Play Progress is being made dally in rehearsals of "Spring Fever," the play to be given by the sen ior. class of the high school on the nights of April 10 and 11. Joan Gradoville, Kenny Tiekot ter, EideU Speck, Warren Kneer, Ray Tincher and Mary Lou Wall ing provide the comedy for the play. The whole cast is endeavor ing to develop the characteristics of the personalities they will por tray. The publicity and business man agers are in full swing getting out advertisements. Tickets are now on sale. The entire stage crew will be busy all week getting the settings and stage properties in readiness for the play. I): Tawanka Group Will Become Active Again A reorganization meeting was held Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Harold Gaines. Girls from the OkLzu and Tawan ka Camp Fire groups organized under. the Tawanka name. At a later date they will be joined by other girls which will bring the total membership to about, 20. Mrs. H. E. Danny Loekln Is Home from Hospital Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lockin have brought their young son, Danny, home from the Methodist hospital in Omaha where he had been for ten days suffering from an upper respiratory infection. Mrs. Lock In's father, Dr. A. D. Caldwell, entered Veterans hospital for in Lincoln Tuesday for treatment of ulcers. New i n Hub Is Organized In County UNION (SPECIAL) A group of girls met Saturday afternoon, March 15, and organized a 4-H cooking club. ' Mrs. Ruth Pike was named leader and Mrs. Min nie Schiber assistant. Girls elect ed to office were Carol Lee Rod dy, president; Carol Ann Pike, vice president; Mary Lou Morton, secretary; Bonnie Baker, news reporter; Imogene Schiber, yell leader; and Gloria Dickman, games leader. After the busimTss session the girls played games. Imogene Schiber and her mother served refreshments. Volk-Marshall Wedding WEEPING WATER (SPECIAL) A large group from here attend ed the wedding of Mis3 Janet Marshall and Raymond Edward Volk which took place in Omaha on Saturday afternoon, March 22. The ceremony was performed in the Dundee Presbyterian church at 4:30 by Dr. E. A. Rowsey, pas tor of the church. The altar was banked with white snapdragons, woodwardia and cathedral tapers. The bride wore a gown of white ivory satin with tight-fitting sleeves, square neckline, torso skirt and a three-yard train. Her fingertip veil of French illusion was edged with lace applique. ! She carried an orchid and Steph anotls. Mrs. Charles W. Hanford of St. Louis and Mrs. Terrence Barton of Lincoln were matrons of honor. Miss Dorothy Archer was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Lucy McLaf ferty and Miss Janet Haggart. Thay, all wore ice blue net gowns and carried American beauty roses. ' : ; 1 Edward Sklenicka was best man. 'G. Peck have returned from Falls City v.here they went last week to attend the funeral of Mr. Pck's father, Cleon Peck, who had long been active in the poli tical and civic life of Falls City and Richardson county. (C jl JC Students to Lincoln for Shakespearean Play About 30 high school students from the English literature class es went to Lincoln Friday eve ning and Saturday afternoon to see the presentation of "Macbeth" in the Temnle building at the University of Nebraska. The play was put on by the University players. Miss Ethel McCamley, Miss Jfearle Staats, Mrs. Robert Reade and Miss Ruth Dickinson accompanied the students to Lin coln. Of special interst to the local students were the unfamiliar dialect of the Shakespearean characters and the fact that no scenery was used, in keeping with the. time the play was first pre sented.
