Farm Bureau Unit Meets Mr. and Mrs. Fred Tschirren were hosts to the Sunnyside Farm Bureau unit Thursday night.The meeting was presided over by the president, C. P. Applegate. Lester Wheeler of Lincoln, coun ty organizr, conducted an open forum on pertinent topics. Cards served as diversion for the social hour Lunch was served by the women. Thirty-six members" were pre sent at the meeting of the Amer ican Legion Auxiliary Thursday light when they met in the Leg en club rooms. Members brought gilts for Christmas baskets Fo.l owing the business meeting a focial hour was given over to card games, with refreshments ferved. The Auxiliary will sponsor the iocal contests for junior and sen ior high school students on the .mericanism essay contest that closes March 17, 1947. A bone in the ankle was broken. She is getting along nicely. American Legion Auxiliary Games Party A large group of people were in attendance at the games party given by the Legion Auxiliary at the American Legion club rooms last Wednesday night. Entertain Pinochle Club Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Davis were hosts to, three tables . of players of the Pinochle club at their home Friday night. Prize were awarded holders of high scores. Refreshments were ser ved by the hosts. Hunters Find Few Birds Returning from a hunting trip to Wayne last,. Jungbluth of Omaha, was married Sunday afternoon, Dec. 1 to Jess E. Batchelder. 'son of Mrs. Ethel BatcheldeF of Laramie, Wyo., in St. Paul's Methodist church in Om aha. Dr. E. A. Sabin, pastor of St. Paul's, performed the double ring ceremony in candlelight before an altar banked with, pink and white chrysanthemums and palms. The bride was gowned in white satin, cut with a sweetheart neck line, long tight fitting sleeves, fin ished with shirred net, a full skirt with a slifrht train. Her veil was of white satin trimmed illusion that fell from a starched lace tiara. She carried a white orchid on a white Bible. Mrs. Francis Baldwin sang "Be cause", "I Love You Truly" and "The Lord's Prayer". Miss Evelyn Skelbeck, violinist, played "At Dawnng", "I Love Thee," "Lohen gren's Wedding March" and "Re cessional". Mrs. W. D. Rush was organist. Mrs. Robert Bauer was matron of honor, gowned in ice blue and carrying an old fashioned bouquet of talisman roses tied with pink bows and showers. Bridesmaids were the Misses.Joan Straka, Mary Letovsky, Betty Lou Gebrke. Shar on Jungbluth and Mrs. Roy Er berg. They wore pastel shaded gowns, and carried old fashioned nosegays of talisman roses tied with huge pink bows and matching roses in their hair. Maureen An reasen. as flower girl, was gowned in orchid net. Howard Hancock, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Harold Jungbluth. Jr., Robert Jungbluth Don Bernard Hermsen and Rob ert Bauer ushered. Three hundred quests were pres ent for the ceremony and recep tion which was held in the church parlor. The colors of pink and white were carried out at the re ception also. The bride's cake was decorated with white roses and a basket of pink roses centering the top. Those serving at the recept ion were presented pink and white corsages. Mrs. Batchelder is the grand daughter of George Perry Cook, formerly of Alvo. Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Cook of Weeping Water attended the wedding. Local Girl Receive? Honors at University Miss Gertrude Cloidt, daughter of Mx- and. Mss,;: John . Jfl : Cloidt, was recently honored at Univers ity of Nebraska when she was one of fourteen students to be el ected to Nebraska Masquers, dra matic honorary society. Miss Cloidt is a junior at the. university and majoring in social science, but has been active in play product ion and is assistant director at the Experimental Theater of the Uni versity. She is now hard at work on "Girl of The Golden West", soon to be produced at the theater. In addition to her production work. Miss Cloidt appeared as a member of the cast of "Gloria Mundi" which was presented last Thursday night at the university. She portrayed the nurse, Miss Jebb Miss Cloidt was here last month to visit with her parents during the Thanksgiving holidays. Salvation Army To Pick Up Clothing Several people have inquired a bout pick-ups by the Salvation A my. Mrs. Henry Donat has announ ced that there will be a truck here from Omaha in the near future to make collections of clothing and other items that can be used by the SA. Miss Gladys Fae Rhoadc Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rhoades have announced the engagement o their daughter. Mis3 Gladys Fae, to James Marsh of Houston, Texas. Mr. Marsh is a navy man. presently stationed at the national capital. Hold, who underwent a major operation at the Metho the Methodist hospital in Omaha has returned to her home, and is recovering nicely. The panel, in ruling for the def ence, cleared the defendants of res ponsbility for the fatility. Faster Air Mail Service Revealed By Postal Head Due to Star route connectons, Plattsmouth effective Monday had a better air mail service, it was revealed by Postmaster Ed Egen berger. Air Mail posted between 1 p.m. and 6p.m. in the future goes dir ectly to the Omaha plane terminal. This will advance box to plane services by one flight in each dir ection. Meanwhile, the postmaster an nounced that due to the end of the coal strike parcel post service has been resumed on a normal basis, th 5 pound restricton lifted. The limit is once again 70 pounds. The postmaster is accepting bids for use of a car without driver for the hauling of parcel post mail. Particulars may be obtain ed from Egenberger. Mrs. Berlett Is Chosen Head Of Gardening Club Mrs. Ed Berlett has been elected president of the Plattsmouth Gar den club. Others chosen to head the group for the coming year are Mrs. Fritz Fricke, vice-president and Mrs. W. E. Brown. cretary treasurer. The new officers will be installed next month. f A display of Christmas wreathes and decorations brought in by the members was explained by ex hibit contributors. Plans were made and a committee apponted to decorate a window in the bus iness section for the Christmas season. Former Journal Man At Capital Frank Kvapil, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Kvapu, umana, is now located in Washington D. C., where he has been em ployed since October. Mr. Kvapil was a carrier for The Plattsmouth Journal when he lived here with his parents. Woman Is Burned In Grass Fire Sunday James A. Missing Coupe Is Found By Sheriff Reported stolen on Oct. 15, the 1931 Chevrolet coupe belonging to Chester Bressman has been found by the sheriffs office.
