(U.F Florida, long a center for the land travel trade, now is making a bid for air tourists, repainting and modernizing markers encouraging Dilots to dron down for a visit. Before the war, the state led the nation in air markings to guide planes to their destination. but some 1,700 fell casualty to,1 the outbreak of hostilities and j were painted out to prevent enemy use. The renovation job wiJ cost about $85,00, and since their dis repair was brought on by war, state officials are seeking federal aid in the project. The actual repainting and re marking must be undertaken by individual communities, but the; state is recommending that wise cities will look to the air for much of their tourist trade in the fu ture, At the same time, Florida is not neglecting its land travelers.
