Liston'is having an addition built to his office cn the south side. The excavating for the pipes is now completed. He is ex pecting his son, Dr. Howard Lis ton, to be here to work with him later on. The lots belonging to the Weichel estate were auctioned off Saturday. Fred Lake was high bidder, purchasing them for $475. Walter Box left last week for his summer farm work in Wash ington state. Before going he was a guest one evening at the home of his brother, John Box. Some neighbors also were present. Ed. and Clark Gustin, of Lin coln, were business visitors in Elmwood Saturday forenoon They also called on relatives. Mr. and Mrs. James Greene ar rived last week from Worcester, Mass., where they had been visit ing her relatives. They will spend several weeks with his parents, Mr. and .Mrs. Ralph Greene. James arrived from overseas about a month ago. . Mr. and Mrs. John Fisher rode to Oklahoma Friday in a car with a friend who went to see her hus band. Harold Gobelman celebrated his birthday Saturday afternoon at his home. His guests were the pu pils of the Taylor school, Mrs. Elmer Pike and two children, Mrs. Ben Neal and Mrs. Oliver Schiber. Dr. and Mrs. Gilmore were guests of Mr. and Mrs. D. Ray Frans for dinner Easter Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Rut Frans of Syra cuse called on the mother of Mr. Frans and also at the Ray Frans house. Later in the afternoon they called on Mrs. David Kendall and family. The Union Woman's club will observe music week Sunday even ing May 5 at the Baptist church. A fine musical program is being prepared by the committee in charge. Further announcement will be made later.. The Misses Nell and Pearl Bramblet and the Misses Amy and Mini Wright of Nebraska City were Omaha shopppers Tuesday. Members of the Masonic order were at the Baptist churdh Sun day morning. The church was filled to overflowing. The pastor of the Methodist church, Rev. T. Porter Bennett delivered an in spiring sermon on the theme, "In' the Beginning, God." Music was furnished by a girls choir from j the two churches. Their special 1 number was "Alone." Mrs. D. Ray Frans presided at the piano. Mrs. L. B. Mougey sang a solo with Mrs. Earl Upton at the piano. The church was filled with beautiful flowers which added much to the service. I Miss Lois Winter spent the Easter week end with her parents in western Nebraska. She returned to her school duties Monday morn , ing. j Mrs. L. G. Todd spent Easter i Sunday at the home of her son; Melvin Todd, and family. Other guests at the Todd home were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schanot, Dorthy Mae, Dickie and Joyce. Keil and son, Jack, of Papillion, were Sunday din ner guests at the Hans Schroeder home and later called on Bessie Core. Dr. and Mrs. II. W. Worthman, Willard McShane and Elwood Pankonin were Omaha visitors Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Wirth spent Easter with their parents. James Heard is home from school with the measles, also James Hendricks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lauris Hendricks. Lt. and Mrs. Raymond Sluyter, Mrs. W. H. Pankonin and Mildred visited Thursday at Auburn, with Mrs. Pankonin, and Raymond's aunt, Mrs. Edna Flock. Mr. and Mrs. Scott Schroeder spent Easter with Mr. and Mrs. Hans Schroeder and Mr. and Mrs. Bert McNealey. They came from Omaha for their two children, Daryl and Saundra Lou, who spent a week's vacation with rela tives at Louisville and Cedar Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Nyle Donnelson, Mrs. Clarence Nessen and Robert Gess were in Omaha Thursday. Mrs. Irma Bergman was a sup per guests at the Ralph Welte home Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Pankonin left Louisville Saturday night for Oakland, Calif., where they will make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Al Hill and Elmer Salfers arrived at the Frank Sal fers home last Wednesday. They started on their return trip to Cali fornia Friday. Bob Bloodgood of Portland, Ore., Glen Anderson of Bute, Mont., of the navy, arrived at the Joe Wollhuser home Monday and left Tuesday for their home.
