PEARL KRUGER, Correspondent John Wolph, S2c, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wolph, has been trans ferred from Camp Farragut, Ida., to Boston for special schooling at the Hugh Manley Radar school. Gene 0. Ford has been sent to the Great Lakes Naval Training base for boot training. Donald Cox Teiurned to Great Lakes base Monday after a week at home; he went to Kansas City for a brief visit enroute. Mr. and Mrs. John Ketelhut are proud to call a little girl (Thelma P.ae) their daughter. They vent to Lincoln Friday and got her from the Childrens Society Home. Mrs. Ketel hut was the former Ruth Hogue. Maxine Steffens, recently enlisted as a navy nurse, has been called to take her training at the Great Lakes Naval base. She leaves this week, on Wednesday. Doris Anderson, student of a business school in Omaha, was a week-end guet of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson. Lyman Anderson, a son, was re leased from the hospital in Omaha after six weeks cf confinement with mastoid trouble. He is requested to remain in Omaha for a time and report to the doctor daily. Mr. and Mrs. George Dickman and sons were guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Little, Plattsmouth, last Saturday afternoon. Norman Lundberg. university stu dent, was with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. V. O. Lundberg over the week end. Miss Jackie Peterson of Nebraska City has been a house guest of Mrs. Kent Balfour for a few days. Mrs. Emil Nixon and sons of Bremerton, Wash., returned to their home after several weeks with the husband 'and father, CPO Emil Nix on. He has been called to sea duty again after a shore duty period. Mr. and Mrs. M. N. Tucker re ceived word from Cpl. Sheldon Mit chell. He had formerly served in England and France and now is in Germany. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wolph en tertained at a family dinner, in hon or of Lt. Laverne Steffens and Maxine, who is to be a navy nurse soon. Mrs. Elizabeth Burton, Gwen and Robert Burton. MMlc, Pensacola, Fla., were visiting friends here Fri day. Mr. and Mrs. Merle McDonald have been with relatives in Lincoln for the past week. Mrs. Charlotte Schoniaker, notifi ed by the war department in Decem ber, that her son Cpl. Wilbur Scho maker was missing in action, now received direct word from him, that he is a prisoner of the Germans. He is limited as to letters and writing material . Mr. and Mrs. Irl Warlick moved to the farm they recently purchased, the Opp place. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Murdoch and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Philpot were Sunday dinner guests of her aunt, Mr .and Mrs. Adam Cook at Weeping Water. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Anderson and George Dickman were business visit ors in Lincoln Monday. Troy Murdoch and children of Weeping Water were dinner guests of his sister, Bessie Murdoch Satur day. Irma Harshman, Lincoln, was a guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Switzer, Sunday. a -r? The Nehawka Woman's club met at the Methodist church parlcrs last Friday. Hostesses for the afternoon were: Mesdames Will Ost, Jack Hines and George Kime. Mrs. Herbert Kuntz. program chairman, presented a '"Flag Pag eant" with music, illustrations and history of it. She was ably assisted by Mrs. John Hansen and Mrs. Glenn Rutledge. The club elected to donate a re ligious bock to the Nehawka Library in memory of a recent departed member. Mrs. Mary Norris. Election of officers was held. Re sults: Pres., Mrs. John Hansen; Vice presidents, Mrs. Henry Ross and Mrs. Glenn Rutledge; Sec, Imo Heebner; Treas., Mrs. John Ketel hut. Patriotic songs and visiting were enjoyed. The hostess served lovely refreshments using the St. Patrick mot iff in decorating colors. Mrs. Farr Young is with the fam ily at Jefferson, Iowa. The Livings ton are the proud parents of a daughter born at the Jefferson hos pital last week. Parr Young return ed from an Omaha hospital last week, and is taking life easy for a few days. Frank Cox, Weeping Water is the guest of his son, Earl, and fam ily this week. Bessie and Li!a Lindcr was able to spend a few days with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lindcr last week and attended the funeral ser vices of Grandmother Linder. They returned to Chicago and immediate ly left with the radio troup for a tour of entertainments. Stops will be at Cincinnati, and Dallas, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Nutzman re turned Thursday, after spending a few days with their son, Lt. Ned Nutzman at Topeka, Kansas. Seaman Billy Rosencrans has been enjoying a vacation with his mother, Mrs. J. F. Knecht and Mr. Knecht at South Bend. He is sta tioned at Hutchinson, Kan. After waiting anxiously for three weeks for word from her son, Pfc. William Kruger, Mrs. Kruger reports that he is on the tiny island of Iwo Jima. and he is O. K. and in good health.
