St. Paul's Guild Holds Annual Christmas Party The Woman'Tcuild of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church held their annual covered dish din ner in observance of the Christmas holiday at the church parlors, the past week. . Many attended this meeting which was opened with the regular order of business and it was decided to re tain the present officers for the en suing year. Decorations were in keeping with the holiday season, very beautiful in every way. Circle No. 1 met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. William Ofe, assisted by Mrs. Mike Kaffenberger, Mrs. Olga Sturm and Mrs. Cora Hirz, Sixteen members an dthirtcen visit ors were present. Mrs. Raymond Hild gave the devotions and Mrs. Mike Kaffenberger gave the reading of the Christmas story. The regular business meeting was held and also the gift exchange. Circle No. 2 met at the church parlors, Tuesday for a covered dish luncheon. A short business session was held. Mrs. Otto Pitz gave the devotions. "The Unlocked Door." There were sixteen members and fourteen visitors present. The en tertainment was games and the ex change of gifts, Circle No. 3 met at the home of Mrs. Louis Hunker with twenty two members and three visitors pres ent. Miss Amelia Martens and Mrs. Martha Meisinger gave the devo tions. A short business session was enjoyed and the secret sisters were revealed, followed by the gift hower. Games were also played and followed by ice cream and cake. Lt. W underlich Reported Killed In Action Son of Mrv and Mm. Walter J. Wunderlich of Nehawka I Re ported a Killed December 1st The message was received Thurs day at Nehawka, that Lieutenant Edward L. Wunderlich, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Wunderlich, of that place, had been killed in action in Germany on December 1st. Prior to entering the armed ser vice, "Jack", as he was better known to the friend.-, was a student at the University of Nebraska. He received his commission on Decem ber 7, 1943, at Fort Benning, Georgia, and was attached to the infantry for service. Besides the parents, a brother, Lieutenant Robert L. Wunderlich, stationed in England, survives. The young officer was well known in this city where he has often visit ed, and the family will have the deepest sympathy of the friends here in the sacrifice that they have been called upon to make. A few days ago Robert Walling of this city, a friend of the young lieutenant, received a letter from Jack, the letter being dated from Germany, November 30, 1944, the day before the death of the young man. The letter told of Lt. Wunderlich having been in service in France, Holland and Belgium and finally Germany. Johnson Family To Have Happy Holiday Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Johnson and family are planning a very happy time for the holiday season as their daughter, Waunita Johnson, who is engaged in one of the large insur ance offices in San Francisco, i here for a monts visit at home. They have received word from their son, Ralph D. Johnson, who is in the armed service, & member of the naval construction force or the Seabees and is now back in the United States. Ralph has spent two years in the southwest Pacific, years filled with excitement and danger, that has taken a toll physically of the young man. He has been hospital ized since the last of August and is now at a hospital at Chicago where he was transferred when he arrived at San Diego, California. He hopes that he may be released in time to be here Christmas. To all persons interested in the estate of Emelia Liljedahl, deceased. Barclay Wednesday Wednesday afternoon f u n e r a services were held at the Sattler funeral for William M. Barclay, long a prominent resident of the city and a leader in the Fraternal Order of Eagles of the state. There were many of the old time friends at the funeral home to join in their tribute to the neighbor and associate of many years that had been called to the last long rest. Dr. II. G. McClusky. pastor of the First Presbyterian church, had charge of the services, bringing words of consolation to the bereaved members of the family and the friends. Frank A. Knight Templars Act As Funeral Escort Funeral services were held thi afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Scottish Rite cathedral at Omaha, for Charles Diehl, 54, who was for some time Missouri Pacific agent at Murray. The funeral was under the aus pices of Right Angle lodge No. 303, A. F. & A. M., of Omaha, of which the deceased was a member. Mr. Diehl was a member of Mt. Zion commandery No. 5, Knights Temp lar of this city, who furnished the Plattsmouth Eagles To Hold District Meet Sunday, January 14th Date for District Meet and Dedication of New Club Rooms Plattsmouth aerie No. 365 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles are plan ning on being host to the district meeting of the order on Sunday, escort for the funeral. Towle Will Case Judge Allen Beeson Reported as Better. Thursday evening a very pleas ant surprise was eiven the James Mauzy family in a long distance tele phone call from Long Beach, Cali fornia. It was from Elizabeth Bee- son, the oldest daughter of Judge and Mrs. Allen J. Beeson. She re ports her father, former county judge of Cass county, as being im proved from his recent illness. to hold the dedication ceremonies for their newly remodeled club rooms. Plattsmouth aerie has a state wide reputation for their hospitality and entertainment that they afford the vhjting brothers of the order and will live up to this reputation on the Judge Thomas H. E. Gobelman, is now starting in on the ground floor of the building, at the office of the register of deeds, Mrs. Lucille Horn Gaines. The redecorating of the offices of the clerk of the district court, both the general office and the private office, as well as the vault, was completed this week and at once the work was started on the register of deeds offices. Th addition of a little paint has worked wonders with the office of the clerk of the district court and the general program of improve ment in the district court room makes it one of the most attractive in the state. that demanded attention. HERE FROM WEST COAST Mrs. Florence Norris and son, of Los Angeles, are here for a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kalasek, Sr., the parents of Mrs. Kalasek. They will ateo visit with Cpl. Frank Kalasek, who has just recently arrived home from Ice land where he was in service for some eighteen months. Betty Reed Home for Over Holiday Visit Betty Reed, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Reed, is home for a visit over the holiday season at the home of the parents and with the many school friends. Betty is a sea man first class in the WAVES and at this time is stationed at Norman, Oklahoma, where she is engaged in office work at this training center. She enjoys the work very much, but is pleased with the opportunity of being home for the holiday. FAUQUET (bEAL) County Judge 12-18,21,25,28. 1-1,4 Sheriff Joe Mrasek and Chief of Police Noah Parker were called out this morning shortly after 7 o'clock by the report of a wreck on high way No. 75, two miles north of the Murray corner. A Watson Brothers trailer had been parked along the west side of the road, while the tractor was be ing bought on into this city for some repairs. A station wagon, owned by the Swaim Bus lines of Nebraska City, that had heen onvevine workers from that city to the bomber plant, was going south and crashed into the rear of the trailer. The station ! wagon was practically demolished and the driver Edward Gress suiter ed several cuts and lacerations on the face that were dressed and the patient able to return on home.
