He received his commission Nov. 18tK Last Sunday afternoon and even ing the Evangelical Youth Fellow ship held the District Rally at the Lincoln Calvary church. There were 15 of the. Murdock group present and 21 of the Callahan group. The following churches were represent ed, Lincoln Calvary, Lincoln First, Dawson, . Elmwood, Callahan and Murdock. , The Callahan group had charge of the devotions in the even ing at which time their young men rendered two very fine choruses and the Ladies Trio an. excellent song. Marcus Rikli had charge of the recreational period, also led the group discussion relative to recrea tion in the local group Fellowship. The snow is retarding the farmers from finishing their corn husking. Rev. and Mrs. J. II. Oehlerking and Mrs. Ray Howard and son were to Lincoln on. business on Monday. Mr and Mrs. Donald Fredenburg returned from Michigan last Wed nesday morning. Mr. Fredenburg's mother' has been quite ill, however, she was recovering when they left. Miss Maxine Miller who is a teach er in the Council Bluffs High school spent the Thanksgiving holidays with her parents, 'Mr. ' and Mrs. Emil Miller. Mrs. Ruth" Miller with her two sons also spent these days with Maxine. : Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Oehlerking also Mrs. Herbert Oehlerking ' were Lincoln callers last Saturday. Ward were Elmwood visitors Friday, i ; : ; - Paul Stock has sold the farm he recently purchased, south of Ash land, to August' Ruge and in the deal he becomes the owner of pro perty where his implement business is located. W. E. Lyon and family of Lin coln were calling on Murdock friends Monday evening. , I . Aug. Ruge and Jno. Kruger have been serving on the. jury in Platts mouth this week. . .. The school carnival held in the school building Saturday evening, November 25, was a decided suc cess financially. The receipts of the evening amounted to 150.00. The entertainment on. the stage was-well received by the audience, and the basketball game was a fast and furious one,' resulting. inf a score of 21 to 19 in favor of the high school team. . . Alvin Oehlerking finished picking his 120 acre field of corn just prior tn the rain that fell Saturday and reDorts a vield of 6000 bushels or 50 bushels per acre. Long, Village Clerk Riverview Club Meets The Riverview club held their No vember meeting at the home of Mrs. Homer Shrader with Mrs. Robert Rea as the associate hostesses, with thirteen members present and one guest, Mrs. Clara Frans. The meeting was opened by the recitation of the Lord's prayer and singing "In the Garden." Plans were .discussed for Christmas party to be held on De cember 12th at the home of Mrs. Henry Kuhns with his mother, Mrs. Slagel assistant hostess. Each mem ber is to bring a gift for a grab bag.
