The quota given us was $290.00. I am sorry that ' labor conditions due to the war does not encourage printing the long list of donors. Entertain for Teacher Tuesday evening Miss Lydia Vo cisky, of Wilber, teacher in the Central building of the Plattsmouth schools, was an honor guest at a very charmingly arranged dinner party staged by her associates in the teaching force. Miss Vocisky is leaving the teaching force at the close of school today and will pre pare to report for service in the WAVES in which she enlisted some time ago. She is to report at Hunter College, New York City, for her "boot" training and then receive an assignment for active duty. Death of Baby Funeral services were held here Thursday morning for the infant child of Mr. and Mrs. John Brad berry. The child was born at the Methodist hospital at Omaha and was dead at the time of birth. The funeral was conducted by the Cald well Funeral Home and the burial was at the Wabash cemetery. A grotesque punkin face met folks at the outside door, aad a real live ghost greeted folks at the Inside door The dining room was beautifully decorated in the accustomed seasonal colors, with four shocks of corn fod der and several large pumpkra jack o-lanterns adding t(t the scenery. Mr. and Mrs. Irvan Myers and Mrs. John Holt were the decorators. Mrs. Jess Hodge and Mrs. Cramer led the games. After tne games reiresn- ments of coffee, pumpkin-pie and ice cream were served by Lester Thimgan and Rev. Taenzler. Miscellaneous Shower Mrs. Loretta Smith honored Mrs Albert Richards formerly Miss Daisy Dean Dill at a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mrs. Cynthia Dawson on North 3rd street, Thursday after noon. A large group of relatives and friends attended. The afternoon was spent in playing games. Mrs. Bonnie Graw, Mrs. Marie Brown and Mrs. L. D. Hiatt were the winners of the contests. . The bride received many beauti ful as well as useful gifts that will be cherished in the future. In clos ing delicious refreshments were served by the hostess who was as sisted by Mrs. Cynthia Dawson, Mrs. Marie Richards, and Mrs. Albert Snell. See Chicken Packed The Rotary club Tuesday after noon at the close of the regular weekly luncheon at the Hotel Platts mouth had the pleasure of visiting one of the large industrial plants of the city that of the Norfolk Pack ing Co. . The president of the club, E. H Bernhardt, . also the manager of the packing plant, gave the members a fine opportunity of seeing how the chicken is prepared and canned for the fise of the armed forces of Uncle Sam In many far flung battle lines and seas. The members wit nessed the process from the time that the frozen chicken is received at the plant, the cooking and the stripping of the flc8Q of tne fawl on the distributing belts where it is sorted and advanced to the mach ines and placed in cans and then the final canning and then ready to ship out. The program of the luncheon was In charge of Robert Cappell and the event was one of the greatest in terest to all of the members of the party. They will long remember the trip to the packing plant. The club members were delighted to have as a guest of the day, L. O. Minor, of Kankakee, Illinois, for a number of years one of the leaders In the local club and who is still a good Rotarian in his home town of Kankakee. Birth of Daughter A fine little daughter was horn this morning at the Clarkson hospit al at Omaha to Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Mann of this city. Spidell and family, for a week. While at the Spidell home she had the pleasure of a visit from her son, Floyd Kline, who is in the navy and stationed at Sampson, New York, at this time. The visit of Floyd was much enjoy ed by all of the family group. A real surprise was afforded Mrs. Kline, Snndav. when she received a call from a son, Virgil Kline and family that they were in Plattsmouth from the west coast to enjoy a visit. Dies in Kansas The message was received here last evening by Frank R. Gobelman, an nouncing the death on Thursday at Effingham, Kansas, of Freeman Mc Farland, a resident here for a sum bwr of Years: Mr. McFarland has been suffering from kidney trouble and dropsy for some time and was at the St. Joseph hospital at Effing ham when he died. For a number of years Mr. Mc Farland operated a photo studio in this city. There is surviving his passing the widow, one son, Lewis McFarland of Chicago and a daughter, Mrs. Leroy Ruse of Los Angeles. Dies on West Coast The word has been received here by friends of the death on Tuesday, October 10th, at Los Angeles, of William Roy McKinney, 58, a resi dent here some forty years ago. The death of Mr. McKinney came suddenly as the result of a heart attack. Engaged In the restaurant busi ness in Los Angeles, Mr. McKinney retired several years ago and has been inactive on account of his health. He is survived by one son. St. Paul's Circle Meets Members of Circle No. 1 of the at the Woman's Guild entertained church parlors Thursday afternoon for a coffee social. Being a vacation period for the school children, owing to the state teachers convention, a nice program was given by the pupils of a number of the school district. The program was enjoyed by a very large crowd of the members and the friends. The hostesses of the afternoon were Mrs. Henry Born, Mrs. Ray mond Hild, Mrs. Fred Buechler, Mrs. Cora Hirz, Mrs. Alvina Roessler, Mrs. Gilbert Storm and Miss Laura Meisinger. Mrs. Hadraba has been ill for the past few years and is now bedfast and under constant care. Her condition last evening was very grave.
