Weeping Water Mrs. Merritt Pollard, Jr., of Sey more, Iowa, is visiting at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hunt. Mrs. Glen Stratton was quite ill the first part of the week. Fred Allen, president of the Busi l ess Men'3 Luncheon club, reports that the meeting this week took the form of a pep meeting for the War Bond sale, and that there was also a general discussion on the civic improvements for the coming year. UNION ITEMS By Journal FieU RepresenhdSre Repair Elevator The Union' elevator that has been in need of ;epair is now being placed in the best of shape for the purpose of handling the large crop. Lt. Roland McCartney, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. McCartney, who has been at Camp Ord, California, is home for a furlough to visit the par ents and friends in Union. Still at Hospital Ralph Opp, Missouri Pacific agent, who has been at the Veterans hos pital at Lincoln, is still undergoing treatment. Mrs. Opp visits her hus band quite often and hopes that he may soon be able to rally and leave the hospital. Back from Hot Springs Messrs David Eaton and R. E. Foster, who have been spending seme time at Hot Springs, Ark., have re turned home to Union, Mrs. Eaton two weeks ago and Mr. Foster last week. Mr. Foster has been having the flu that prevented his returning with his wife. Returns from Hospital Elmer Witherow, in charge ot the Union Co-Operative association, who was in St. Mary's hospital at Xe braska City, suffering from a fever, has returned home and Monday was down town for a time. Miss Mary Becker is looking after the work at the bank. Mrs. Ella Arnold and two children were at Plattsmouth over the week end to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Vir gil Arnold, parents of her husband. Mrs. Ceorge Parks was at Omaha Sunday where she was the guest ot her daughter and family. She re ports her son-in-law is still sick. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Biubacher and daughter, Miss Beverly Ann, were in Plattsmouth on last Friday where they attended the musical chorus that was presented by the high school. Miss Beverly- Ann was a member of the chorus. James W. Holmes of Plattsmouth was in Murray Friday to look after home business matters and visit with friends. F. E. Ozbun, of Waulee, Iowa, was calling on W. L. Seybolt at the fill ing station Monday. Mr. Ozbun is the father of Frank Ozbun, an old friend of many years standing. William iporer was looking after some business matters in Plattsmouth Saturday, making the trip by bus. Charles Sporer has Ik en building and enlarging his seed house. Mr. and Mrs. Guy Kiser, of Omaha, were guests Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mis. Martin Sporer and Addison Kiser of Mynard. George S. Ray was a visitor in I Plattsmouth Saturday to spend a few hours with friends. Mrs. S. Y. Smith has been very ill at Omaha where she has undergone a serious operation. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baker have been in to visit lier. EEL1EVUE HUNT The hunters of Murray and vicin ity are notified that the Bellevue wolf hunt is to be held on next Sunday as first arranged. The hunt ers will meet at 7:30 a. m. Sunday at the Twin Oaks on the Bellevue Boulevard and the hunt, will start at once.
