High School Co-Ordinator, church, having a full day of interest j who is extremely anxious to contact and imnortance to the organization, each and every music organization - A great deal of pleasure was felt by the local membership in the nam ing of Mrs. Vesta Thomas of Nebras ka City, as the new district presi dent. Mrs. Thomas is a past president of the Plattsmouth unit as well as ' at Nebraska City and will make a most successful leader for the organi zation. The convention opened at 10 ! o'clock Thursday morning following matters and entered orders in vari a very beautiful musical prelude ous cases played by Mrs. Wiley Sigler of this city. Mrs. Ross Gillman of Seward, district president, presided over the meetings during the day and had as her page, Mrs. Guy Evans, also of Seward. The pages of the convention were Mrs. George Conis, Mrs. Ed ward Steppat and Mrs. Edgar Glaze. Mrs. A. H. Duxbury, chairman of the state department committee on Americanism and Community ser bice, led in the salute and pledge to the flag of the United States. Mrs. Duxbury was also the local unit convention chairman and had a large part in the preparation of the pro gram. Mrs. Emma Nutzman of Nehawka, led in the singing of "The Star Spangled Banner," that was followed by the invocation by Mrs. Adelaide Boynton, chaplain of the Plattsmouth unit. Mrs. Hall Pollard of Nehawka, Cass county chairman, led in the reciting of the preamble to the con stitution of the Auxiliary. The guests were extended greet ings from Flattsmouth unit by Mrs. Leonard Fitch, local president, from Fontenelle chapter D.A.R., and the Plattsmouth Woman's club by Mrs. F. R. Gobelman. The response was by Mrs. Vesta Thomas of Nebraska City, district vicepresident. Mrs. Duxbury also presented to the convention the pages and members of the convention committees. The ladies at the morning session received the reports of the different units, the president's report and also observed the memorial hour for the departed members. Afternoon Program Mr3. Emma Nutzman opened the afternoon with leading the group singing that was very much enjoy ed by everyone. Mrs. George Mayabb of this city, vas heard in one of her always de lightful solos, and Miss Betty Albert, talented young pianist, gave a very much enjoyed piano number. Orders confirming sale of real es tate in two tax foreclosure cases, the Village of Elmwood vs. Harold Deles Dernier and the Village of Eagle vs. Martha H. Cooper, widow, was entered by the court. Decrees quieting title'was entered in the cases of Emma McClure vs. Samuel Casey and in Arnold C. Fahr lander, et al., vs. James Cronin, et al. In the partition suit of FrSd W. Backemeyer vs. Louella Backemeyer, the court entered order to have real estate sold. A. L. Tidd was named as the referee. In the case of D. O. Dwyer vs. the Cass County Board of Equalization, appeal from tax levy, the matter was tried to the court and evidence ad mitted. The court placed tax valu ation of the property in question at $180. Costs assesed to the defend ants. Delta Deck Club The Delta Deck card club was en tertained on Thursday evening by Miss Laura Meisinger at the apart ment of Miss Margaret Scotten, at the Coronado. Anna Rotter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rotter, was born in Platts mouth and it was here thirty-seven years ago that she was married to Joseph Letak at; the Holy Rosary church in this city, they locating in Omaha immediately after their mar riage. .; -: . Attending the hearing frcia Union were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Witherow and Mr. and Mrs. Karry Gobelman. Continues Musical Work New York City, Oct. 28 Miss Mary Jean Knorr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Knorr, 009 Main, Flattsmouth, Nebraska, is, enrolled as a student in the School of Sacred Music at the Union Theological Sem inary, New York City. Miss Knorr, a graduate from the University of Nebraska, class of 1942, was one of 205 students to enter upon the lOSth academic year of this interdenomin ational seminary. Miss Knorr is at present organist and choir director at the Trinity Methodist Church, West New Brigh ton, Staten Island, New York. Aids in War Effort Among the Women Reservists now on duty with the Navy in the na tion's capital is Clara Toman, store keeper third class, USNR, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Toman of Plattsmouth. She reported aboard on July 19, 1943 and is stationed at the Navy Department. Storekeeper Toman is one of sev eral thousand Women Reservists who have been assigned to duty in Wash ington. Groups of these WAVES in trim blue navy uniforms are now an established part of the Washington tcene and both the city and the navy have made the newcomers feel at home. Storekeeper Toman is a graduate of Van Sant Business School, Omaha, and worked as an I.B.M. Operator before she enlisted in the navy on January 16, 1943. She received her recruit training at Hunter College, i the Bronx, New York, and her spec ialist training at Burdctte College, ' liQston, Mass. Stops Here for Visit Sergeant Victor Arobio, USA., sta tioned at Salt Lake City, Utah, has been here lor the past few days for a short visit with old friends. Sgt. Arobio has been detailed on work of supervising troop trains from his camp to various stations. He is now returning to his home station from a trip to the east. Friends Plan Reunion Seaman 2-c James D. Brown and Cpl. William Hula, U. S. Marines, are planning a reunion in the Hawai- ian island where both are stationed! at this time. The two young men were schoolmates here in Platts mouth, Bill graduating in 1942 and James in 11)43. Through members of the family they have been able to contact each other and look forward to a fine visit. Remember Teacher The students of the Wintersteeu hill school, took the occasion at the vacation enjoyed last week to join in a birthday remembrance to Mrs. C. A. Rosencrans, teacher. The youngsters learning of the forthcom ing birthday purchased a lovely gift that was presented the teacher just before the close of the school.
