Police Court Notes Saturday afternoon Charles Pla kan, Robert Whitsel, John Edwards. Michael McAuliff and J. L. Friend, all giving their residence as Pacific Junction, where they are part of a railroad gang, faced Judge C. L. Graves. The men were charged with intoxication and to the charge made a plea of guilty. The court assessed a fine of $5 and costs that was paid and the men released. Sunday morning Judge Graves was called to the city hall to hear a complaint against John Reynolds, i Omaha, for speeding and passing a stop sign. He made a plea of guilty and was fined $5 on each count. The fine and costs were paid and the defendant released. Home from Navy Harold Noell, seaman first class, who has been in the naval service for the past two years, arrived Sun day afternoon for a visit with the navpnts nnrl nld friollds. Thfi Noell family are now living in Nebraska City, and the young sailor left at once for that place. A younger brother is ill at the hospital at that city, suffering from appendicitis. Undergoes Appendectomy Miss Wilma Swatek, daughter o! Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Swatek, is re ported as doing as well as possible under the circumstances after an emergency appendectomy at the St. Joseph hospital Friday afternoon. Surprise on Friend Last evening Kmmett Lindsay, the genial proprietor of Playmore Park, was given a very pleasant surprise last evening at the Lindsay home ou the park grounds. The event had been arranged by Mrs. Lindsay in honor of the birthday anniversary of the husband, a few of the elose friends from Omaha and this city being invited iu for the evening. Cards served as the diversion of the evening and the friends joined in lest wishes for many more anniver saries for "Rick." S. naval 1 nursing forces, ' Taken to Illinois This morning the' body of Adam Marshall was sent from the Caldwell funeral home in this city to Van dalia, Illinois, where the funeral ser vice will he held and the interment made. This is the birthplace of Mr. Marshall and where members of hi3 family are living. Here on Leave Raymond Bolden, seaman second class, who has just completed bis "boot" training at Camp Farragut, IJaho, naval training station, is here for a furlough. The young man iu visiting with the relatives and friends here before returning to the training station for assignment to duty. Suit to Quiet Title This morning in the office of the clerk of the district court an action lie quiet title was filed in which D. and Harry E. Alexander, ct al., are the defendants. The action seeks to quiet the title to lots 11 and 12. block 21, Plattsmouth. Preparing Law Action Attorney Walter II. Smith was at Lincoln Wednesday where he was called to spend a few hours looking after some matters of business. Ha was l?st j heard from in England some months W - - ' -- 5 No B and C Ration Appeals Before October 15 Application for restoration of B and C gasoline ration cuts now in effect in the Midlle West cannot be made to the local board before October 15, Mr. W. G. Boedeker, chairman of the Cass county War Price and Rationing board, announc ed today. B and C coupons were re duced from three gallons to two gallons. Mr. Boedeker assured war workers and others employed in es sential industry that they will be able to get to work, but added that applicants for restoration of cou pon cuts must show proof of need. Pending receipt of instructions, he said, the beard will use the present table of issuing new or renewal gasoline rations. "A" coupon values remain at three gallons each. "Our board has been instructed to scan every application ' closely," Mr. Boedeker said. 'The needs of our military forces, ever increasing with increased activities on many battle fronts, must coine first. I want to appeal to every car owner to think twice before applying to boards for restoration of the cuts. Likewise ev ery essential war worker may be as sured that his actual needs will be met." Dealers will be allowed through October 6 to dispose of coupons taken at the old value basis, either to their suppliers at the time of supply re plenishment or to the boards for in ventory coupons. All coupons ex changed by dealers at different unit figures must be separately summar ized on Form R-451. Distributions are allowed through October 11 to deposit coupons hon ored on the old basis, Mr. Boedeker said. Distributors must complete sep arate deposit slips for each deposit at different values. Fire Alarm Sunday The fire department was called out Sunday by a fire reported at the S. A. Wiles brick residence, south of this city, where it was found on the arrival of the firemen that the fire was in a closet of one of the upper floor rooms. The fire appar ently had-started from matches in the pocket of a hunting coat. The house is occupied by the George Rus sell family. The firemen were able to check the fire and confine it to the one room and very small loss. Parents of Son Word has been received, by rela tives here of the birth of a seven pound four ounce boy to Lt. and Mrs. Wayne Falk on September 27th at San Bernadino, California. The son has been christened Kenton VV'ayne Falk. Lt. Falk is serving with the air corps. Home on Furlough Pvt. Herbert Lau, who is station ed at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, in an artillery organization, is home for a furlough with his family and friends. He is visiting at the home of an uncle, William Lau, west of the city and with the many old friends in this part of Cass county. Home From Service Pvt. Glen Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Allen, arrived home last evening to resume his civilian life after his service in the army. Glen was called to service a year ago and was on active in the Pacific for some time. His health has not been the best and he was sent to Long view, Texas where he was hospitaliz ed and later given a medical dis charge from the service. Box. 88. 30-4-SW Still Under Treatment Mrs. Minnie Renner wishes to let her friends, neighbors and relatives know that she is still at the St.1 Joseph hospital under treatment and observation. She started Friday morn ing on her final treatment by the injection of six radium needles. She is flat on her back and suffering severe pain, but this is the reaction of the treatment. It takes four to five days for the treamen, but how much longer she does no know. sue has received a very large num- ber of cards and letters and some flowers that have made her stay more cheery. Taken to Exeter From Friday's Daily Last evening following the recita tion of the rosary for Mrs. Edward Delaney, the body was taken to Exeter where the funeral services were held today and the interment at the cemetery there. There were a great many at the Sattler funeral home for recitation of the rosary and farewell to the friend that had passed away so sud denly. Mrs. Delauey, who was found in her aparments Thursday afternoon, was not dead as was first reported but passed away shortly afterwards after receiving the last sacraments. Corporal Phillips Here Cpl. Joe Phillips, stationed at Camp Butner, North Carolina, was here today to visit with the many old friends and associates for the day. He has been at Omaha with his family and came on down to see the old home. Joe is with the medical detachment at Camp Butner and likes the service very much. He has had an opportunity to keep up his basebali work and his team is the champion at the camp, securing vic tories over the rival groups. He is playing third base on the team and keeping up his record as a batter as in . the days when playing with the Plattsmouth team. He is looking fine and the friends are very pleas ed to enjoy the opportunity of a visit. AT EXCELSIOR SPRINGS Mrs. Rex Young and nephew, Dale Henton, are enjoying a stay at Ex celsior Springs, Missouri, well known health resort for the residents of this part of the west. Tedder, 53, a tall, lithe, mild mannered, modest indi vidual who at first meeting might seem to be easy going. He is actually a hard worker who keeps his men on the go all the time. During World War I he switched from the infantry to the air force. His chosen field has brought him brilliant victories and also sorrows. Tedder's elder son and namesake was killed in an air battle over England and Lady Tedder was killed in an air crash in Cairo" recently.
