On April 29 and 30, Thurs day and Friday, in the High School Auditorium, the Senior class is pre senting Lloyd C. Douglas', "White Benners." Just as it became a suc cess on the motion picture screen with its brilliant players: Claude Rains as Paul Ward; Fay Bainter as Hannah Parmalee; Jackie Coop er as Peter Trimble; and Bonita Granville as Sally Ward; it will surely be a smashing hit with Robert Cole, Georgia Carey, Joseph McMaken, and Geraldine White, res pectively, playing these parts. There is truly an inspiration plot behind the story of "White Ban ners." The play is the story of a simple inventor and his family and their hardships. It relates how a stranger dropped in suddenly. The stranger was Hannah who had an inspiring philosophy for a successful life. She came searching for her son, Peter Trimble. The story goes on and centers about Paul Ward and Peter Trimble who invent the iceless refrigerator. Hannah has a great deal of influ ence in making this invention a suc cess. The cast has been working seri ously during the past few weeks, and we are sure that they will pre sent) a play that the public will en joy. V The stage hands and the other committees are capably putting the stage equipment into shape. When the day of the play arrives, every thing will be ready so that it will meet the approval of the public. Departs for Service Harold E. Flockhart, who enlisted several weeks ago in the Marchant Marine, has received his call to duty and is leaving this evening for Omaha, where he will report and will be shipped out some time Thurs day. Harold, a member of the class of 1941 of the local high school, will take the best wishes of his many friends in his service and among these the Journal force where he was employed for some time. He is a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kerns of this city. ,Attend Optician Congress Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Fitch have just returned from Kansas City where Dr. Fitch attended the Heart of America Congress of Optitians; held at the President hotel Sunday Monday and Tuesday. He paid tribute to : Byron Price and Elmer Davis for their yeoman service in the conduct of the Offices of censorship and War Information. "In spite of regulations and rules of these war agencies the American people through the press, are better informed than any other people," he said. The morning session of the con vention was. occupied with; prob lems of small dailies. Not to Approve McCumsey Omaha, April 20.
