'1943 ALVO Forrest Hardnock, who is in training and who very recently re turned to the United States from Canada, is home on a two week furlough. He has been called to re port at Aberdeen, Maryland a few days sooner than he had planned. Junior Johnson, who also has been TisitLng his parents and family as well as friends has . returned to Aberdeen, Maryland, after a two weeks furlough. Coming home was quite a thrill for Junior as he had never seen his baby before. He had also returned from Canada where he had been in training and he was of the opinion that he would soon be sailing for some foreign country. Rev. and Mrs. Morey had word a few days ago from their son. Wesley, who is a pilot on a transport plane flying the Pan-American air routes, had recently returned to Miami from a long flight. He sent some souven irs home to his folks, among which were several articles of interest, especially a steel dagger that he had purchased in Brazil. Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Mullen and Nita were visiting Mr. and Mrs J. L. Dimmitt in Greenwood Saturday. Mr. Clyde Boyles of Lincoln is do ing considerable repairing and re modeling at the home where the Clarence Bucknell family reside. The Board of Education of the Church met at the personage Wed nesday, evening for the March meet ing. All sizes. $1.39 to $2.95 Soennichsert s Lee Copple, who is a student at Wesleyan has had to miss school due to an operation that he under went at the Bryan Memorial hospital two weeks ago. He is recovering nicely and was expected to be able to return home this week end. His friends are very happy to hear this good report. Rev. and Mrs. Morey drove to Lincoln Wednesday to take Mrs. Sanders, a sister of Mrs. Morey's, to the bus so that she could return to her home after spending a few days with her sister and husband. Mrs. Morey's nephew and wife of Scribner, spent the week end with Rev. and Mrs. Morey. County agent, Mr. Waldo, and Miss Jessie Baldwin, were at the school house Thursday to organize 4-H clubs. "Several young folks'regis tered for summer clubs. Miss Margaret Jean Stroemer who is a teacher in the McCook schools, spent the week end with her folks. Mrs. Stroemer who was ac companied by Mrs. H. L. Bornemeier, drove to Lincoln Saturday morning to meet Miss Margaret Jean. They spent the day shopping in Lincoln. Miss Grace Muenchau, who Is teaching in DeWitt, spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Muenchau. Farmers are busy with field work the weather having been such as to let the farmers get into the fields for their early spring work. Gardens are also being made. Mack Nickel has been building a brooder house at the Mick Borne meier home. Roger, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Mick Bornemeier was taken to the hospital Saturday where he underwent an appendectomy Satur day night. He is reported to be getting along very nicely. Visits elatives Here. Mrs. James Haygood and son, of near Chicago, have been here for a few days visiting with members of the A. W. Smith family, the late Mr. Smith being an uncle of Mrs. Haygood. The visitors departed this morning for Emerson. Ia., to visit relatives there and will then go on to their home. The Haygood family have a small farm near the Chicago city limits. Locating here Mr. and Mrs. Grant Roberts, who have lived in Omaha for the past three years, have moved to the home of the parents of Mrs. Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fulton. Mr Roberts is to leave for military service soon and until he does, he will drive back and forth to Omaha where he is em ployed by the Union Pacific in the accounting department at the head quarters.
