He Is getting along fine and expects to be back in school soon. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Ruhge and Mrs. Smoots of Palisade, Nebr., visited C. I. Sonners in Omaha last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Olewine, Oma ha, are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Gollner. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stovall and family, of Riverton, Iowa, and Mrs. Minnie Neumeister and Bertha were last Sunday dinner guests at the J. H. F. Ruhge home. Mrs. Edwin Terrell, spent several days last week with her son, George Stites and family, in Omaha. Mrs. John Berner, Jr., Emma and Frances Druery, were shopping in Lincoln last Friday afternoon. The Juniors and Seniors of Avoca High school, spent last Wednesday in Lincoln. In the evening the Juniors sponsored a Junior-Senior banquet at the Hotel Cornhusker, Lincoln. Mrs. Eugene Nutzman and Mil dred, Nehawka, visted Mrs. Dena Ruge, last Satuday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Spencer, Tal mage visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Marquardt, last Sun day. Mrs. Rachel Everett, Silas and Le ona were in Nebraska City last Fri day, afternoon. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Rohlfs, Jr.. December 1. at the Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln. Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Brendel, Mrs. H. H. Marquardt, Mrs, Fred Mar- quadt and Leona Everett were in Lincoln, Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Robert McCann and Matt., were in Lincoln last Friday, visiting Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bassett and family. Hillverd Nutzman, returned to his work at Sidney, Nebr., last Thursday, after spending several days with his daughter. Verl, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nutzman. The Woman's Club, held their Christmas party, at the home of Mrs. Julia Kokjer, Wednesday af ternoon. The November Birthday club met with Mrs. Edith Wessel last Mon day. The Red Cross Surgical class held their meeting Thursday, The class meets one afternoon and evening each week at the surgical dressing room at the home of Mrs. Julia Kokjer. Lieutenant Carol Nutzman, who has been in Hawaii for several years and now stationed in the state of Georgia, spent several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Nutz man. He left, for a new assignment last Monday morning. Harry Hauschild is in the Bryan Memorial hospital at Lincoln. They report his condition favorable. The ladies of the Congregational church held their annual bake sale Saturday afternoon. A chicken sup per was served in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ruhge were Lincoln visitors last Friday. George Oelkers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Oelker, received a cita tion for bravery under fire from the government. George is somewhere south of the equator. Mrs. Gus Mohr and Mrs. Anna Hawley, Palisade, Nebr.. were call ed to Avoca, Friday, by the serious illness of their mother, Mrs. Pauline Witzke. The Cemetery Kensington, met Friday afternoon with Mrs. J. H. F. Ruhge. They enjoyed a Christmas party, and an exchange of gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Marquardt, Mrs. J. W. Brendel and Mrs. Caro line Marquardt were shopping in Lincoln last Saturday. Floyd Mohr, is enjoying a fur furlough with his wife, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mohr. He is sta tioned at Saulte Ste Marie, Mich. Private Phillip Maseman, return ed to Camp Crowder, Mo., last Sa turday, after spending a ten day furloukh with his wife, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Maseman.
