Nehawka By Journal Field Representative John Chrisweisser, Lyle Kruger, Alber Scudder and Ray Noxon were in the northwest part of the state last Sunday on a bunting trip. Phillip Ribu was in Mynard last Saturday to look after some proper ly. Mrs.'W. L. Stine and son were in riattsmouth last Sunday. Corporal Sidney Cook, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Cook, spent a ten day furlough from his camp in Texas with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Ost went to Little Rock, Arkansas, for a visit with their son-in-law and daughter, Ser geant and Mrs. Boyd Mayfield. A baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon Mitchell at Lincoln last Saturday. Mr. Mitchell is in service in an army camp. Mrs. Mitchell and the little one are doing nicely. During the past ween several can didates have visited in Nehawka to become better acquainted with the voters. Sheriff Joe Mrasek. Cass Syl vester, Walter Smith, Miss Madge Garnett of Plattsmouth and G. W. Hart of Louisville took this oppor tunity to press their cases for elec tion. Mrs. John O. Yeiser and children, Suzanne and Andrew, visited last Sunday at the home of Andrew Sturm. Raymond and Claude Akin, who are far removed from each other in the service of our country, so far as distance is concerned, have both been promoted to corporals. Wm. August delivered wheat to the Nehawka elevator last Monday. D. Switzer did the work for him. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Switzer and Mr. land Mrs. J. J. Pollard visited in Om aha last Sunday at the home of Mr and Mrs. Chalmer Switzer. F. Rihn. Aire. L, B. Alaugay is feeling much better after a serious, illness and a period of hospitalization. Mrs. Perry Dukes is assisting with the work at the home and is nursing the patient back to health. Aliss Alary. Ryan, teacher in the Union schools, spent the week-end with her parents in Omaha. Willie Clarence has been having a tussle with the flu and is feeling bet ter at this time but not entirely re covered.. Air. and Airs. Arthur AIcQuinn are the parents of charming twin girls born to them on last Tuesday. The little ones and their mother are get ting along nicely. , 4 Airs. Russel Arnold n departed last Friday for Camp Lewis, Washington, where she will be with her husband for a while. Airs. Charles Clarke has gone to Camp White, Oregon, to visit with her husband. Airs. Lester Schumacker of Ne braska City was a guest of her par ents, Air. and Airs. II. W. Griffin, and accompanied them to Plattsmouth where they all visited Sunday at the home of Mrs. E. AI. Griffin. J. C. Suavely has moved near Avoca to Union where he has secured an apartment. R E. Foster and D. B. Porter gave a social dance in Union last Satur day night and served sandwiches and coffee for refreshments to the seventy-five couples who took advantage of their hospitality. Air. and Mrs. Robert Fith of Ne braska City and Mrs. Belle Frans of Alurray are visiting in Brewster with a sister of Airs. Frans, Airs. E. H. Riggs. Airs. Agretta Wood Is visiting here for a few days with relatives and also friends. She has been in Brush, Colo rado and will return shortly for her home in Los Angeles, California. The C. W. Hoback family writes from their new location on the west coast that they are all well and get ting on very nicely. In a football game played between Union and the Omaha Underwoods last Friday, the home team proved to be the most aggressive and finish ed the game with the highest score. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Tysart have moved from their home in California to Iowa where they are to live near their daughter, Mrs. Melvin Fuesner. NOTICE To the Voters in Eight Mile Grove Precinct. Galen Rhoden of this city are at West Point where they were called as the result of the con dition of their son, Dale Rhoden, injured in a truck wreck Sunday night.
