Louisville Woman's Club Meets The Louisville Federated Wom an's club met April 14th, 1942, in the Methodist church parlors with Mrs. Melvin E. Johnson, Mrs. August Funke and Mrs. Frank Koterzina as hostesses. Twenty-five members were present and three guests, Mrs. L. C. Isaac, Mrs. Gene Dunn and Mrs. Donald McKenzie. Mrs. W. S. McGrew led the club in the pledge of allegiance and Mrs. Earl Greene led the singing of the club song. In the absence of Mrs. R. E. Uhley, because of illness, Mrs. Henry Davis acted as president. Mrs. August Funke as chairman present ed the district convention reports with Mrs. J. H. Brunson, Mrs. C. R. Ackles and Mrs. V. S. McGrew also reporting. The balance of the pro gram consisted of group singing led since he by Mrs. Earle Greene and a quiz conducted by Mrs. Earl Greene and her assistants, Mrs. H. L. Dickerson and Mr3. C. L. Greene. ALVO VISITORS HERB From Tuesday's Daily This morning a trio of well known residents of the Alvo com munity were in the city to look after some matters of business. Those who comprised the party were L. 1. Mullen, Elmer and Carl Rosenow. While here Mr. Mullen was a caller at the Journal and renewed his sub scription to the semi-weekly for the coming year. The son is located on the west coast and this was the first opportunity to converse with him that the family have enjoyed left here. DOG TRIALS COMING The dog trials, an annual feature of recent years held near this city will be held on Saturday and Sun day at the Platte bottom north of this city. The trials will bring some of the best animals in this part of the west here for the tests of the re trievers in the Platte river. RECEIVES PROMOTION Edgar L. RETURNING TO INDIANA Mrs. May Sheplam of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who has been here visiting with her father, Ray Wright, is planning on leaving Friday for her home in the east. While here she has had the opportunity of visiting many of the old time friends over this section of the county where she formerly resided. He had a light case of paeu- I monia but we are glad to report he is feeling better at this time. The music students of the Eagle consolidated high school participated in the music contest held at Auburn last Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hite of Weep ing Water spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Wright. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Althouse of Lincoln visited relatives in this com munity last Sunday. George Winkler who was taken to a Lincoln hospital last Friday, un derwent an operation on Tuesday of this week. His condition was said to be as well as could be expected so soon after the operation. Guests at the W. 13. Hursh home last Friday afternoon were Mr. Hursh's sisters. Miss Dessie Hursh of Broken Bow and Mrs. James Gam niel and granddaughter of Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wenzel of Bethany visited Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Wenzel last Thursday evening.
