Lester Reeves, USA, located at Fort Meade, South Dakota, in a letter to his mother, Mrs. W. O. Reeves, tells of the extreme winter weather at this post of the army in the Black Hills. The mercury there registered some twenty-seven belov zero. Monday afternoon at the court house was performed the marriage of Richard Isaac Dew and Ethel Louise Barrett, both of Omaha. The wedding was performed by Judge A. H. Dux bury in his usual impressive man ner. H. Burns and family near Monterey, meeting many of the friends that he had met while the Burns family j were located in this section. i While it was raining a great deal of the time Dick was able to meet many friends and visit many places of interest while on the coast. He enjoyed the Christmas party at Fort Hunter Liggett with the Bums fam ily. The stay did not permit him to visit the Los Angeles area where there arc many of the old school friends located. On the way west Dick accompanied Kenneth Armstrong and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Timm. but on the return came by the way of Reno, Nevada and Salt Lake City to enjoy the many very interesting sights on the trip. PREDICT WAR MOVES ;' The Plattsmouth Rotarians had not only an interesting meeting Tues day as is the custom of this jolly and friendly group, but also the mem bership indulged Into a peep into the future. J. Howard Davis was the leader of the meeting, proposing a general discussion and prediction by the dif ferent members of the status of the present world war eight months hence. Miss Betty Jo Libershai, queen Harvesta, was present and took down the various predictions of the Rotarians. These predictions are be ing transcribed and placed In a vault to be brought forth in eight months to ascertain how many of the members had the best insight in the future. L. S. Devoe, club president, did the questioning of the members as to their views. The members of Rotary for thc month of January were presented, they being Ralph Hilt, senior and Richard Tritsch. junior. D. R. Thornton of Nebraska City, former local Rotarian, was a guest of the luncheon. From Monflay's DallT Mr. and Mrs: Henry Timm return ed home last night from a two weeks visit on the west coast with relatives and old time friends. They spent a great deal of time at San Francisco and nearby points with the relatives of Mrs. Timm, and while there had the pleasure of a visit with L. L. McCarthy and family who are locat ed at Alamea, where also they visited with the Joe Bnihl family. Mr. Eruhl being a nephew of Mr. Timm. They also had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. M. E. Manspeaker, former Plattsmcwth resident. On their trip through the south California country they enjoyed a visit with Edward Hadraba and Bob Rum mel and family, Mr. Hadroba assist ing showing them over the Los An geles area.. j They found all of the relatives; well and had a most delightful time in renewing old times with them. SECURE NEW TEACHER Mrs. Zelpha Seward, of Alexand a, Nebraska, has been elected as a member of the teaching force of the city schools. Mrs. Seward has been principal of the school at Alexandria and comes here very highly recom mended. She is known to a number of the local people as she has visited at the home of her sister, Mrs. C. A. Rosencrans, several times. RETURNS TO LINCOLN Miss Mixine Hughes of Lincoln, who has bj-n here to visit with her sister and her brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rex iiourne, returned to her home Sunria? a Tier noon.
