Morgan, Mrs. Sarah Keil and Miss Dorothea Keil. TRAVELS 2 WKS.. TALKS 1 HOUR ST. LOUIS (UP) A. Emil Davis spent two weeks to keep a lecture date here. Davies, chairman of the London, Eng., county council, was to speak at the 47th annual National Conference of Government of the Na tional Municipal League. He was unable to get passage on the trans- Atlantic dipper so he sailed across on a convoyed merchant ship, flew to St. Louis and kept his date. Mrs. Houston Welton and son of Peru, visited from Thursday until Saturday with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Price, and grand mother, Mrs. Anna Snyder. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wall and son of West Point, spent last week end with Mr. AVall's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Wall. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schwegman had as their Sunday guests their daugh ter, Mrs. Claude Gerhard, Mr. Ger hard, and daughters, Arlene, Janice and Lila. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Allen of Lin coln spent Sunday with Mrs. S. E. Allen and Mrs. R. B. Morgan. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Thomson and son from near Palmyra spent Sun day with Mrs. Thomson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Caddy. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reynolds and family of Havelock, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thillips and daughters. Mrs. Emma Judkins was the din ner guest of Mrs. Sarah Keil and Miss Dorothea Keil last Sunday. Mrs. Verna Habel is assisting Mrs. Edward Porter at the post office with the heavy mail of the pre Christmas season. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Althouse of Lincoln, visited at the home of Mrs. S. E. Allen last Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Underwood call ed at the home of Mrs. Underwood's father at Wabash last Sunday after noon. Mr. and Mrs. George Trunkenbolz and daughter, Evelyn, spent last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Frohlich and Loren. Mr. and Mrs. Trunkenbolz left on Monday for their new home at San Diego, Calif. Mr. Trunkenbolz will be employed in an airplane factory near there. Miss Ella Os senkop was a guest. Following a short business meet ing, the afternoon entertainment was that of a Christmas party. An inter esting feature was the exchange of the 'Mystery Sister" gifts. Since this was the last meeting of the calendar year, each member's mystery sister was revealed to her, which added much to the merriment of the afternoon. Searchlight Club j The Searchlight club met at the , home of Mrs. Ernie Thomas for their j Christmas party on the afternoon of I December 12. Mrs. Verna Habel and Mrs. Waldo Xensteil had charge of i the entretainment during which there was an exchange of gifts. Mrs. Leona Gardner and Mrs. Gil-j bert Pettit served a lovely lunch at the close of the afternoon. Methodist W. S. C. S. Meets Mrs. Carl Bender entertained the ladies of the Women's Society of I Christian Service at the Christmas j meeting at her home Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 10. Eeside the business meeting there was the December program and an j exchange of gifts. The hostess served delicious refreshments. Methodist Church Notes The choir presented a Christmas cantata at the church Sunday eve ning, Dec. 21. A Christmas program will be presented by the members of the Sunday school Christmas eve. A group of Sunday school children, members of Loyal Temperance Lc-J gion, accompanied by Mrs. Isabel i Jack, visited White Hall, the home ! for dependent children in Lincolu Sunday afternoon, Dec. 15. 0. S. C. Club Notes I The O. S. C. club was entertained at a one o'clock luncheon at the j home of Mrs. Nora Ketelhut re-! cently. Mrs. Hazel Judkins playing the piano and Mrs. Albert Francke, laying the viojin. entertaiued with some very nice' music. The club voted money to buy a pair of blankets for a needy family in the community. Each member also is to bring some article of clothing or some food to be presented to this same family after tho January meet ing. Each one enjoyed the home-made candybrought by Mrs. Margaret Nor ton. Mrs. Albert Francke, Mrs. Edmund Francke, Mrs. Ed Francke and Nancy, Mrs. Carol Ketelhut and baby, and Mrs. John Vickers were welcome visitors. The next meeting will be with Mrs. A. J. Nelson, Jan.
