That's why there may be delays on some Long Distance Christmas calls. Last Christmas Eve and Christmas Day the wires throughout the nation were jammed. Switchboards were manned by regular and extra operators working all through the holiday. Long Distance calls were three, five and at some places EIGHT times normal. This year, more people have jobs and more people will have money to spend for Long Distance calls. We ex pect the biggest rush of Christmas calls we've ever had. This Company is pre pared to handle calls between points in its own territory the 22 counties of southeast Nebraska at almost normal speed. But on calls to distant points calls involving the facilities of telephone com panies even more rushed than we'll be we expect delays. All companies are doing their best to prepare for the Christ mas rush, but some calls will be slow. For these, we ask your patience and understanding.
