Theodore Harms, who was so ser iously ill for a number of days dur ing the past week, has changed and a much needed improvement has been manifested. Mrs. Frank Zimmerman of Gretna, was a visitor in Mauley last Wednes day, coming to see our townsman, Antone Auserwald, regarding some business matters. j Mr. and Mrs. William Sheehan, sr.,j were rejoicing on Tuesday when a 9-lb. baby girl was born to Mr.j and Mrs. Paul Meyer at their home grandchild to the Sheehan's. A letter from Harvey Bergman, who is a Glendale, Caif, where ne is employed in an airplane factory is to the effect that things are very busy with everything turning out; defense materials. Reports come from the hospital where Johnnie Gruber is that he Is ; making good progress just now to- j wards recovery. It is epected that J it will not be long now before he is able to return home. The family of Charles Gade andj wife, of Ashland, were over to Man-! ley on Thanksgiving day and enjoyed j a very fine dinner with "Pa" and' "Ma" Flaischman. However, Mrs. Gade and Doloris remained for a visit until Sunday, when Mr. Gade camej again and enjoyed another visit with! the folks. j Messrs. Allen Ehlers and Mr. Fer-j ry, both citizens of Mauley, havej been going to school at Nebraska City, where both are taking a six weeks course in welding. They are doing ths as a matter of National Defense and also that they may be able to make more money for the defense of the home against fuel, rent and groceries. Their line is that of sheet metal working. Visit With Folks Miss Margaret Bergman, who has been a student in the Clarkson hos-l pital at Omaha for a number ofj years, completing her studies there; and later working as a nurse, was home for over the week-end, visit- ing with the folks. She returned last! Monday. I George Vogler Criticaly 111 ! George Vogler, who has been in j poor health for some time and who1 was taken to the Clarkson hospital at Omaha, where he was given a thorough diagnosis and special treat ment, has been suffering from her orrhages of the stomach and bowles, passing blood both ways, weakening him greatly. Three blood transions where given with good results. At the time of this report it was said that his condition was somewhat more favorable. His many friends are hoping for a recovery and that he may be restored to health. Thank You, My Lad That is Kenneth Lawrensen, who; noticed a pair of glasses which the writer lost in front of the barber shop of Fred Flaisfhman and in turn wrote a postal to myself telling of the retrieving of the optics and which were delivered on the last trip.
