On August 10, 1933, the sale of beer was resumed after a 16-year "dry" period, under provisions of a statute passed by the 1933 legislature legalizing 3.2 beer. This legislation was superseded in 1935 by the present Nebraska liquor control act providing for the sale of both beer and liquor and placing ad ministration of the law under a State Liquor Control Commission. The Nebraska Brewers and Beer Distributors' Committee, self-regulatory organization headed by Charles E. Sandall, reports that since 1933 the state of Nebraska has collected a total of $3,545,547 in beer excise taxes. Of that amount, some $2,C41, 183 has been used to help finance the ! sta,te assistance program for the benefit of the needy aged, dependent children and blind. The remainder I has gone to the state's general rev enue fund. Director Sandall is in charge of the committee's "clean up" activities which were initiated in Nebraska more than three years ago to im prove standards of retail beer opera tion. Similar programs modeled af ter the Nebraska plan are function ing in fourteen states. AIRPORT ASSURED KEARNEY, Neb., Aug. 11 (UP?
