From Monflay'i DafTy Entertained at Louisville Mrs. Raymond Hanks and two sons, Raymond and Ronnie, Miss Mildred I'ayton, and Irus Gerdes were enter tained at a card-luncheon party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Inman and son in Louisville last eve ning. ? ; Succesrful Novelty Dance Numerous Omahans and persons from surrounding communities help ed fill the American Legion hall Sat urday evening, when members of the Holy Rosary church sponsored their first dance of the year New Year's novelty gift dance. The women of the church had charge of the dance and Mrs. John Kubicka headed the committee. Mrs. Thomas Gradoville r.r.d Miss Anna Jirousek formed the Icheck room committee. Mrs. Charles F. Janda headed the luncheon com mittee and was assisted by Mesdames Joseph Kanka, Anna Zitka and Her mie Svoboda. As the guests entered the ball room each was presented with a novelty gift and later in the evening a special prize was awarded. Miss Charlotte Cotner was the winner. The now-famous Charles Kucera's orchestra of Omaha, played the dance tunes. Bohemian and modern music was offered. nue Saturday afternoon, a miscel laneous shower was given in courtesy to Miss Elaine Handley, whose L. J. Games were played and prizes awarded. Before leaving, each guest wrote a recipe, submitted advice, and presented it to the bride-elect. Mrs. Fred Howland gave a fine review of "White Banners" that was ?nuch appreciated by the members of the group. Mrs. A. F. Moore was heard in very interesting paper on "Radio Programs," shewing a great deal of thought and study in this great mod ern gift of mankind. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in cards, bridge and pin ochle, and in which Mrs. P. Y. Mc Fetridge and Mrs. Lester Gaylord Monday afternoon at the court house, Earl H. Murray and Marian Margaret Salsberg, both of 3332 Har ney street, Omaha, were married. The ceremony was performed by Judge A. II. Duxbury and witnessed by Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Wilson, of Frank- a Tin, Nebraska. ENTER AVIATION SCHOOL From Monday's Dally Donald Mrasek and Ben McCarty departed this morning for Omaha where they entered the Nebraska Aviation Institute, for a course of training in airplane work. The young men expet to motor back and forth from this city to their work. MARIE ALEXEN ILL Miss Marie Alexen, senior at the Plattsmouth high school, is suffering from an attack of flu at the home of her sister, Mrs. Tinus Bomberg. Her condition is such that it may make it impossible for her to attend to her sihool activities the remainder of the week. Given Pleasant Surprise Saturday, January 4th. was the : birthday anniversary of Mrs. P. A. jHild, well known resident of this city, who in honor of the occasion in- jvited her sons, Raymond, John, Ern est and Verner and their families in ;for an oyster supper and all of the trimmings. I Just as the dishes had been clear jed and placed away, Mrs. Hild was given a real surprise when all of the brothers and sisters of both Mr. and I Mrs. Hild came in. The party had come with well-laden baskets and 2 1 proceeded to carry out their surprise ;that had been so well planned. j The evening was spent by the jolly ; group in visiting and playing pin ochle and in which the first honors were given to W. H. Puis while Mrs. jW. H. Puis had the first ladies hon ors. Otto Pul3 won the consolation prize for the men and Mrs. Earl ! Tills for the ladies. This confer ence is the annual get-together of state and county extension workers i for the' purpose of discussing exist ing educational problems pertaining to the extension program. These young men and women dis cussed the topic "How Can 4-H Club Members Help to Strengthen Our Democracy." Many worthwhile con tributions were made which will be incorporated into the 1941 4-H pro gram. Cass county can well be proud to have 4-H members enlisted in such worthwhile discussions. Miss Ruth, I to Walter Peterson, son of Mrs. Irene I Peterson of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Peterson were married in Glenwood on Sunday, November 10. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Earl All bee, the latter a brother of the groom. Mr. Peterson enlisted in the United il States navy some time ago and is now - Virginia. L. B. Mur phy of Scottsbluff, respectively. Frank Sorrell, Syracuse, was named chairman of the government committee and a member of the labor, enrollment, review, and pub lic welfare committee. W. A. Metzger, Cedar Creek, was named a member of the agriculture committee, the claims and de ficiencies committee, and the public works committee. Otto Kotouc, Humboldt, was named to the banking, commerce, judiciary and insurance committees. SELECT NEW TREASURER From 'Wednesday's Party Last evening at the meeting of the Plattsmouth fire department, the members elected as the treasurer of the department, Robert Wurl, suc ceeding Robert Jacobs, removed from the city.
