From Thursday's Daily The jury in the Laune case re turned its verdict at 2 p. m. this afternoon which was sealed and will be opened by Judge Wilson at the convening of court Tuesday. The damage suit of Charles B. Laune of Ashland against John Finkle of Weeping Water and A. O. Moore of Ashland, was submitted to the jury at 5 o'clock Wednesday eve ning and who deliberated on the case since that time. The car driven by Mr. Moore was from the Laune Chevrolet Co., of Ashland of which the plaintiff is the owner. The plaintiff seeks to recover the cost to the car in damages as the result of the accident. Members of the jury trying the case were: Harry Drockhoff, Avoca; Louis Ehlers, Weeping Water; Ray Rouse, Greenwood; Ferd R. Reick man. Murdock; William Jennings Bryan McDonald, Murdock; Grover Hill, Elmwood; Melvern Schliefert. Louisville; Albert Anderson, Ne hawka; Chris Rasmussen, Weeping Water; Melvin Todd, Union; E. R. Adams, Eagle; Albert Funk, riatts-mouth. HEAR TRAFFIC CASES Judge C. L. Graves was busy in hearing several traffic law violations at his court. Frank Hurlbutt was charged with having no drivers' license and received a fine of $5 and costs. The complaint was made by Harvey Nash, patrolman, x Gerald G. Groves of Le Mars, Iowa, was charged by R. II. Beckman, pa trolman, with exceeding the speed limits and was given a fine of ?10 and costs. ENLIST IN NAVY Among the thirty young men who enlisted in the navy in Omaha last week were Donald Meyer, Nebraska City, and Walter Peterson of Platts-mouth. MISS HEMPEL IMPROVING Reports regarding the condition of Miss Teressa Hempel were that she is, doing "line." Miss Hempel suiTered a severe attack last week and was forced to be bedfast. Friends revealed that she is "up and around." RETURNS FROM HOSPITAL Mrs. Carl Meisinger, of this city, who was at the Immanuel hospital at Omaha, was able to return home Wednesday afternoon. She has un dergone a major operation and which is proving very successful. RECOGNIZES LOCAL PLAYER Gregg McBride, veteran sports writer of Lincoln, who made a bad pick of the winner in the Tlatts- mouth-Nebraska City football game last Friday, placed one of the local boys on his week's outstanding play er list. This was James Yelick, whose smashing attacks in the Ne braska City game proved one of the big features. TO VISIT SISTER Robert Traudt departed Friday afternoon for Sioux City, Iowa, where he will visit his sister, Joan, who is a patient at one of the hospitals in the Iowa city. He expects to re turn Sunday and resume his school work.
