EAGLE HS HEMS Mrs. James Boyd of Murdock spent Thursday with Mrs. G. H. Palmer. Mrs. Myrtle Robertson attended the state "V. C. T. U. convention in Lincoln last week. Mrs. Charles Dobeck of Ilavelock Bpent Tuesday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trumble. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Piersol were In Lincoln last Sunday at the home of their son, Harry Piersol. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Slosson and Sara Lee of Walthill spent last week end with friends in and near Eagle. Mr. and Mrs. John Ritter and son of Lincoln spent last Saturday even ing with Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Hursh. Charles Trice left on Monday of this week for Berkeley, California. He plans to be gone about two weeks. Mrs. Liston of Lincoln and her iiiece visited Mrs. S. T. Allen and Mrs. R. B. Morgan last Wednesday afternoon. The Dorcas Society was entertain ed at the home of Mrs. Henry Rock enbach on "Wednesday afternoon of last week. Mrs. Bertha Wulf and Mrs. Carrie Daugherty of Lincoln spent Friday with Mrs. Wulf's mother, Mrs. Paul ine Ollerman. Mrs. Anna Klietsch came from Omaha last Wednesday and will visit her daughter, Mrs. Guy Jones, Mr. Jones and Jack. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Maahs of Wal ton, Miss Clara Maahs of Iowa and Mrs. rauline Allerman spent last Thursday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wulf. Gary Earl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Earl, had the misfortune to crack a bone in his left arm the first of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Spahnle of Hastings and Mrs. J. B. Peterson of Ilavelock called on relatives in Eagle last Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ernest Underwood, Mrs. Don Shelton, Mrs. Ira Stall, Mrs. John Root and Mrs. E. II. George Trunkenholz, Ralph Rans ford, Ernest Underwood and Vernon Longman attended the Minnesota-Nebraska football game last Saturday, at Minneapolis. They returned home on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Longman at tended the funeral services last Wed nesday at Missouri Valley, Iowa, for Mrs. Longman's cousin, John Stew art. Mrs. Longman remained'several days after the funeral. Shirley Hiatt underwent an ap pendectomy at the Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln Tuesday of last week. She was able to be brought home Tuesday of this week, but it will be necessary for her to remain in bed for several days. Tnity Lutheran Aid The Trinity Lutheran Aid met on last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Herbert Umland. Fourteen members were present and Mrs. George Rock enbach and Mrs. Kenneth Trunken bolz were welcome visitors. During the business meeting plans were made for a food sale to be held at the firehouse in October. Can ning days were scheduled to can apples at several members' homes for Tabitha home. The November meeting will be held on November 7th at the home of Miss Caroline Reitter. FUNERAL OF MIS. WHEELER Funeral services were held Tues day afternoon at 3:30 at Lincoln for Mrs. Amanda C. Wheeler, C6, widow of the late Elmer J. Wheeler, for many years car inspector for the Burlington. Mrs. Wheeler was born in Georgia, June 16, 1S74, and with Mr. Wheeler made their home in Lincoln for twen ty-five years. After the retirement of Mr. Wheeler, they moved to Denver and where Mrs. Wheeler passed away Saturday night. Mr. Wheeler died in 1937. The body was brought to Lincoln and the services held at the Wadlow chapel. The Christian Science ser vice was given by Oak E. Davis, as reader, Mary Shockey singing and Cornelia Cole playing the accompani ment. The interment was at the Lincoln Memorial park in the family plot. There is surviving three brothers, a sister, and two nieces, Mrs. A. II. Fitzgerald of McCo'ok and Mrs. G. W. Moore of Alliance, who with Mr. Fitzgerald and Mr. Moore were at the services. Mrs. R. A. Bates of thi3 city, an old friend, also attended the services. Pallbearers were from the old time associates of Mr. Wheeler in the Bur lington, Fred Rezner, of Omaha, John Rhodes. O. J. Perkins, F. T. Witt, Claude Phillips and Charles Lang. VISIT AT EOONEVILLE Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Soennlchsen, Mary Phyllis and Richard Soennich sen. departed Sunday for Booneville, Missouri, where they visited with John Soennkhsen, a student at the Kemper Military academy, one of the best known schools of its kind in the country. They expect to return home this evening. PRESBYTERIAN MEET The Synod and the Synodical, of the Presbyterian church are meet ing simultaneously in Omaha this week. There will be many from the local church attending these sessions. Attending the Synodical today, are Mrs. W. A. Robertson, Mrs. Oliver Meisinger and Mrs. Wylie Sigler. Dr. and Mrs. McClusky and Mrs. V. W. Perry who is treasurer of the Synodical, will be in attendance throughout the week. Mrs. McClusky has a part on the program at today's meeting. BIRTH OF DAUGHTER Announcement was made In this city of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Dale Adams of Wal-1 lace, Nebraska. The baby was born on Tuesday, October 3 and 13 a great granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Adams and a granddaugh ter of Max Adams of Lincoln. She is a grand niece of Mrs. Harry Niel sen of this city. VISIT AILING RELATIVE Mrs. John Albert and Mrs. Eliza beth Engelkemier were in Omaha Sunday, where they visited with their daughter and sister, Mrs. Julius Sprieck, who is confined at the Meth odist hospital where she underwent an operation some time ago. Mrs. Sprieck resides at Pilger, Nebraska. VISIT IN THE CITY From Monday's Daily Mr. and Mrs. John Rauth, of Man ley, were here for a short time today tc visit with their friends. They had been in Omaha where they accom panied their daughter. Miss Anna Rauth, who had spent Sunday at Manley. PLAY EY PLAY OF SIDNEY GAME Following is the play by play de scription of the Plattsmouth-Sidney game, played at Sidney, Iowa last Friday night: By A. E. "HAM" CHOVANEC First Quarter Yelick kicked off to the Sidney 15, Christopher returning 23 yards to his own 38. Sidney made 2 and was held for no gain. A 6-yard gain was not enough and Christopher kicked to Larson on Plattsmouth's 20 with no return. Noble made 4 through the middle and Yelick add ed 14 more off-tackle. After Yelick made 9 more, he recovered his own fumble for a 3-yard loss. Shiffer plunged for 3 more, before Noble's kick was blocked, Sidney recovering on Plattsmouth's 42. Two Sidney Whrusts were held for no gain, and a pass was incomplete. Sidney kicked to Larson on Plattsmouth's 7, with no return. Noble fumbled the snap back in his own end-zone,. but pick ed up the ball and ran to the 25. It was an IS yard gain. On a sleeper play Noble completed a pass to Yelick for 24 yards. Noble made 3, after which Yelick made gains of 6 and 5 yards for a first and ten. Noble ran end for another first down on Sidney's 27. It was a march of C6 yards without a loss. Plattsmouth was penalized 5 yards for offside to the 32. Yelick ran off tackle, lateralled to Noble, and Joe was downed on Sidney's 25. Yelick made 11 yards, before another offside pen alty put the ball back on Sidney's 19 at the end cf the quarter. Score Plattsmouth 0, Sidney 0. Second Quarter Noble gained 9 yard3, but Platts mouth lost 11 yards on the next play. Still another offside penalty put the ball on Sidney's 26. Third down and 18 yards to go. Noble gained 6 yards, but an incomplete pass gave Sidney the ball on their own 20. Sidney made 4 yards, then a very weak punt was downed on Sidney's 36. Noble lost 6, and then completed a pass to Yelick on the 25. Yelick mode 15 more yards before a back-field-in-motion penalty put the ball on Sidney's 15. Noble made back the 5 yards to the 10, and it was second and goal. Yelick plowed off tackle, and crossed Sidney's goal standing. Score: Plattsmouth. 6. Sidney 0. Noble plunged over for the extra point. Score: Plattsmouth Sidney 0. Yelick kicked off to Sidney's 15 with a 15 yard return. A three yard gain was followed by a three yard loss. Another, weak Sidney kick was downed on her own 3S. Two passes by Noble were no good, and Sidney intercepted the third pass on her own 24. Yelick in return intercept ed a Sidney pass on the 38. A five yard penalty put the ball on the 43 be'.'ore Yelick made 1 yards for a first and ten at the end of the half. Score: riattsmouth 7, Sidney 0. Third Quarter Sidney kicked to'Plattsmouth's 35 with no return. Noble lost 6 yards, was held for, no gain and Yelick made 3 to the 32-yard line of Platts mouth. Four down and 13 to go. Noble punted to Sidney's 40. The Sidney safety returned to Platts mouth's 49, fumbled when lie was tackled, and Davis recovered for Plattsmouth. There began a sustain ed drive to an eventual Platter touch down. Yelick made 11, Noble made 13, and Yelick made 9 to Sidney's 18. Yelick made gains of 4, 6, and 4 yards. First and goal on Sidney's 4-yard line. Noble made 2, and Ye lick scored through the middle. Score: Plattsmouth 13. Sidney 0. Larson plowed this way over for the point after touchdown. Score: Plattsmouth 14, Sidney 0. -Yelick kicked off to Sidney's IS, with a 15-yard return. Sidney fum bled on the first play and Grado ville recovered for Plattsmouth on the Sidney 33. Twice Plattsmouth was held for no gain, before Shiffer made 3. Yelick tried for a first down but couldn't make it, and Sid ney took the ball on her own 26. Sidney's first place netted 3 yards, her second nothing, so she kicked to Kalasek on the 48. Kalasek re turned to Sidney's 45. Martin made 7 yards, and Kalasek made 5 for a first down on Sidney's 33 at the quarter. Score: Plattsmouth 14, Sid ney 0. Fourth Quarter Martin made 3, then was held for no gain. A pass, Noble to Yelick, made 6, but an offside penalty put Plattsmouth back on Sidney's 29. On fourth down Martin completed a beautiful pass to Noble for 21 yards to the 8. On the very first play Ye lick plowed to the five, lateralled to Noble, and Joe went over the goal standing up for Plattsmouth's third score. Score: Plattsmouth 20, Sid ney 0. Martin rammed over for the extra point. Score: Plattsmouth 21, Sidney 0. Yelick kicked off out of bounds on Sidney's 2 yard line, and the ball was put in play on Sidney's 35. Had the kick gone over the goal before going out of bounds Sidney would have been forced to attempt a run- back, which probably would have de veloped into a safety or possession deep in her own territory. From the 35 Sidney was thrown back 2 yards on the first play. Martin intercept ed a Sidney pass on the mid-field stripe and ran it back to Sidney's 38. Here a full new team with the eyception of Noble, Yelick and Mar tin went into the game for Platts mouth. Yelick made 15 yards before he was stopped on the 23. Martin made 3 more yards and Noble's pass was batted down. The first string came back into the game, and were greeted with a 5-yard offside penalty on the first play. Noble passed to Yelick for 6 yards. Yelick drove to Sidney's 12 where he fumbled with Sidney recovering. Sidney punted to Shiffer on the 35, and Harry re turned nicely to the 26. The same Yelick to Noble lateral was good for 17 yards. First and goal on Sidney's 9. Yelick drove to the 5; Noble made 5 more to the 1; and Yelick hurled himself across the line for the score. Score: Plattsmouth 27, Sidney 0. Martin made the extra point. Score: Plattsmouth 28, Sid ney 0. Yelick and Noble were re placed for the first time during the game. McClain kicked off to Sidney's 17 with a 6-yard return. On the last play of the game Sidney made its largest gain S yards to the 32. Final score: Plattsmouth 28, Sidney 0. RETURNS FROM NORTH NEBR. Miss Amelia Friedrich, who has been enjoying a visit in the north part of the state, has returned home. She had accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Adam Friedrich home after their visit here, she spending some time with the relatives at Norfolk, Flain view and Randolph, enjoying a very pleasant stay in that section of the state. Miss Friedrich is to attend the meeting of the State Nurses' associa tion which is opening in Omaha week, bringing a large group from all sections of the state. SPENDS WEEK-END AT CRETE Miss Sylvia Korbel. kindergarten instructor in the public schools spent the past week-end at her home in Crete and was accompanied back by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward G.
