C. Soennichsen entertained Sunday at dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Herman L. Thomas of Ne braska City. Mrs. J. G. McMaken Entertains A hostess to the H. M. J. card club Friday, April 26 was Mrs. Jo seph G. McMaken. Mrs. Herman Tiekotter served as a guest at the club's semi-monthly meeting. Prize winners were Mrs. Fred Howland and Mrs. Faye McClintock. Alwins Have Guests Mrs. June Woddard and Mrs. Maud Bunch, Omaha ladies, were in this city and spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. John Alwin and Miss Wilma Pickard. Christen Little Son Sunday, April 28 the , christen ing of Patrick Donald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Harris, was held at the St. John the Baptist church, Monsignor George Agius officiating. Following the ceremony a dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bierl, grandparents of the baby. niuth. Scavenger Hunt Last evening the members of the Junior Woman's club held their so cial meeting at the Hotel PlaUs mouth, enjoying the thrills of a scavenger hunt that proved a source of much fun and excitement for the young ladies. The party was divided In five groups and sent out to search for the various articles demanded as a part of the hunt. The ladies proceeded over the city in search of the articles which were then assembled at the hotel. The winning groups were: cne, Irene Anthes, Anne Knieke, Lawanna Kelley, Lillian Schmitt; two, June Vallery, Juanita Walden, Mildred Walden. The committee in charge was the officers of the club: Edith Solon: on, Marion Olson, Marie Nolting, Ger trude Vallery. . At the close of the evening of fun and entertainment the group enjoyed a "Dutch treat" at the Coffee Shop. John V. Svoboda, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Swoboda, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knofli cek, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Janda, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Koubek, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Melsinger, Misses Rose Janda, Mary Holy, Dorothy Svoboda, and Mrs. Harold Lillie. The evening at the Pilny home was spnt in visit ing and enjoying the old-fashioned good time. The showerees were well compensated for their efforts in ob taining "benevolences." Mrs. Hanpt Surprised In remembrance of her birthday, which occurred on Friday, April 26, Mrs. Augusta Haupt, sister of Mrs. John TVoest, was the victim of a "complete surprise" party tendered her by a group of her closest friends and neighbors. The party, which took place Friday afternoon, was headed by Mrs. P. Y. McFetridge, and the ladies present included Mrs. Glen Vallery, Mrs. Elmer Lohnes, Mrs. Les lie Niel, Mrs. I. L. Kocian, Mrs. Philip Hild, Mrs. R. B. Keller, Mrs. Cass Sylvester, -Mrs. W. H. Puis, Mrs. P. Y. McFetridge, Mrs. John Woest, Mrs. Fred Worth, and the guest of honor, Mrs. Augusta Haupt. Cards were played, pinochle being the chosen game. A gift from the group was presented to the guest of honor. A birthday luncheon, prepared by Mrs. Woest,-was served. The birth day cake was baked and decorated by Mrs. McFetridge. Feather Stripping Party Mrs. Hermie Svoboda entertained a selected group of friends at a feather stripping party Sunday after noon. GameB were played and a luncheon was served. Due to the kitchen shower, which was also In progress at the Holy Rosary church rectory, the group convened early and dismissed early. From Tuesday's Daily Honored on Birthday Last evening a party of some six teen of the school friends of Charles Grosshans gathered at the family home on highway No. 75, south of ! this city, to join in the observance of his birthday anniversary. The evening will be most pleasant ly remembered. In honor of the birthday the guest of honor was pre sented with a large number of very pleasing remembrances. At a suitable hour refreshments were served, these featuring a large and handsomely decorated birthday cake. From XVednesflay's Dally Rotary Has Frolic Last evening the Rotary club was host to their ladies in a dinner party and evening of frolic at the Hotel Plattsmouth. The members of the club and their ladies had planned! an excursion on the placid waters of the Missouri river, but the arctic breezes of late Tuesday caused this to be postponed. Instead of the boat ride the group enjoyed a delightfully arranged din ner party at the hotel as a fitting opening of the unusually pleasant I evening. During the dinner party Miss Helen Slatinsky, senior of the Plattsmouth high school, gave several delightful songs and accordian ac- 'companiment. President Knorr of the Rotary placed the entertainment features of the evening in the hands of Mrs. Fred I. Rea, Rotary Ann chairman and Mrs. Russell Reeder had charge of the music of the evening. The high school faculty furnished i large part of the fun with their band, "The Corny Seven" as thoy were presented, costumed in a man ner that attracted much attention and with a real hill-billy effect. In this group were L. A. Gerner, J. R. Reeder, Vernon Waterman, Harold Heustis. Mr. and Mrs. David Fowler and Miss Harriet Porter. Mr. Gerner and Miss Porter were also presented in a clever skit, "A Eicvcle Built for Two," adding a great deal to the Interest of thi eve ning. Miss Slatinsky also gave two fine accordian solos as a part of the music of the evening. After the program the members found that many pleasant diversions had been arranged for their enter tainment. For those who were devotjes of the dance the committee had ar ranged a very pleasant period of the evening while for others cards nerved as the diversion. In the bridge janes Mrs. Carl Ofe was the winner of high score, in pinochle Mrs. E. H. Spang ler and in the Chinese checker games Mrs. H. G. McCIusky prove! the most skillful. Mrs. R. A. Bates, whose lato hus band was one of the charter mem bers of the local club, was a guest of the evening. Kitchen Shower Sunday The kitchen in the parish rectory of the Holy Rosary church has been recently renovated by its decoration and modernization. The work having been completed a kitchen Bhower was tendered by the parishioners Sunday afternoon between the hours of 2 and 4. Receiving the guests at the shower was Miss Theresa De- Pilnys Showered Tuesday A charivari shower was evidenced at the Vincent Pilny, Jr. home, 1618 Main street last evening when i group of young people gathered to gether and tendered the newly- wedded couple a surprise.
