Thursday's fatal accident occurred when the elderly man attempted to start a fire in the stove and kerosene he used to hasten it exploded. Burned with the explosion, Goolsby's injuries were further aggravated when he fought the flames which threatened to consume his house. Children returning from school and other relatives found him short ly following the mishap and he was rushed to a Kimball hospital. He remained conscious until death though second degree burns covered nearly 90 per cent of his body, ac cording to the physician who attend ed him. He was at that time engaged as a switchman in the Plattsmouth rail road yards of the Burlington. Doc tors gave hira no hope for life. Gools by refused them permission to am putate the mutilated limhs. Though he was unable to walk for several years he gradually regained use of both legs and in later years, was only slightly crippled. About 20 years later he worked in a lumber camp where he sustained an injury which cost him an eye. Ellis Wesley Goolsby was born near Brownsville, Nebr., March 22, IS 66. He moved with his family to Plattsmouth when seven years of age. April 1, 1907, he .was married to Mrs. Ethel Kline. There were no children born to this union. In 1917, Goolsby moved to this vicinity, locating near Vim where he made his residence until the time of his death. Surviving relatives are four step children: Carl W. Kline; Mrs. Wil liam A. (Eunice) Burns of Kimball; W. T. Kline of Omaha and Glen Kline of Wheatland, Wyo. One sister, Mrs. J. R. (Cora) Spurgin of Stone-ham. His wife died seven years ago.
