the church was renovated, and the grounds
were beautified.
The Rev. Ferdinand Suesser then had
charge until August 7. 1924, when Father
Hancik again took charge until April,
1931. Then the Rev. Marcellus Agius be
came pastor, staying until August. 1932.
The roof of the church was reshingled and
the outside of the church repainted.
The Rev. J. J. Kaczmarek succeeded
him, staying until June, 1936. The church
interior was renovated and decorated, a
new hardwood floor was laid, and beauti
ful new rugs were placed in the sanctuary.
The outside of the rectory was repainted
and some improvements made on the out
side. Following Rev. Kaczmarek, Rt. Rev.
A. M. Mosler. V. G., took charge, remain
ing until September 10. 1937. During his
pastorate here, on April 25. 1937. he was
invested in the rank of Right Reverend
Monsignor by the Most Rev. Louis B.
Kucera, bi3hop of the Lincoln dioce?e.
Father Mosler was assigned to the Have
lock church and was succeeded by Joseph
R. Sinkula. who has been pastor of the
church here since September, 1937.
The parish has eighty families.
Father Joseph R. Sinkula, A. B., M. L.
Father Joseph R. Sinkula was born in
Cleveland, Ohio, in January, 1904, and at
the present time is thirty-live years old.
His f.arly education was received in his
homo town. He received his primary edu
cation in the St. John Nepomuce parochial
school. His high school career was spent
in the Cathedral Latin high school under
the Christian Brothers. Following his high.
school career, Father Sinkula entered the
John Carroll University. He spent six
years studying at the Our Lady of the
Lake Seminary where he received his A.
B. and M. A. degrees. His last two years
of seminary life were spent at the St.
Benedict's college at Atchison, Kansas.
Following his ordination on April 15,
1933 at Lincoln, Father Sinkula served as
an assistant at the St. Mary's Cathedral
at Lincoln and at David City. He has
served as pastor at Colon, Nebraska, at the
St. Joseph church. From Colon he was ap
pointed pastor of the St. Mary's church at
Wymore. Before coming to Plattsmouth,
Father Sinkula served as pastor at St.
Mary's church, Dawson, for a short time.

EARLY DAY MISSION
St. Patrick's church, serving the Man
ley parish of that name, was originally
called the Louisville mission, although the
church was situated about midway between
the two places in a locality called College
Hill. As early as 1S63, it was a mission
of Plattsmouth under the Rev. John Dax
acher, and was attended monthly by
Plattsmouth priests until September, 1894.
The first Mass was said in 1862.
