church, gave an address in the
Christian church here. A fairly
good audience was present to en
joy his address and they report
it a very inspiring and helpful
one.
Some of the members of the
Young Men's Quartette were out
serenading last night in the
north part of town. This time
their music was appreciated and
they received several encores.

DEPARTMENT
CALLED OUT
There were two fire alarms
.turned in from R. A. Dittmar’s
residence Tuesday afternoon. The
first time the firemen wnet out
they found smoke issuing trot
the walls of the house but were
unable to find any other traces
of fire. An hour later, the fire
alarm was turned in again and
the fire company appeared on
the scene. 1'his time a thorough
investigation was made. It was
thought that perhaps some pine
boards and other trash which had
been put in the kitchen stove to
he burned had made a smudge
and the chimney not working
well, the smoke had blown back
down and out through the fire
place and wells as will sometimes
happen if the walls are cold. A
large crowd was present and the
excitement ran high for some
time.
