Mrs. Mary Halavaity of Lincoln wa
visiting Dawson friends, Sunday.

turned from Canada last. Saturday.
E. VV. Buser and daughter Gladys
were Falls City shoppers, Saturday.
Rebecca and Sarah Ulmer purchase
the house of Jerry Fenton last week.
Airs. Bert Layman of Table Rock
is visiting her sister Mrs. Bill Waller
Alex. Fisher, Jr. went to Kansas
City last week with a car load of
stock.
Jesse Harburg returned from
Kansas where he has been visiting
his parents.
Alike O'Donnell went back to Kan
sas City, last Sunday after having
about a months vacation.
Superintendent Oliver was visiting
the High School last Tuesday and
gave a very interesting speech.
Walter Utermohlen is improving
rapidly. He was to town Saturday.
He thinks he will be able to go back
to school by the first of February.
Mr. Dave Mountain returned home
from Omaha last Saturday. He re
ports Mrs. Mountain as getting along
fine. She has been in the hospital fo
about a week.

Kd Borland nas been quite sick this
week.
T. M. Draper spent. Sunday with rel
nines in Dawson.
Miss Nina Tiehen of Dawson was
in town, Wednesday.
Mrs. Molly Bradley was a passenge
to Table Rock Wednesday.
The Methodist Circle met with Mrs.
p. M. Williamson, Thursday.
Marshall Perry and family visited
in Dawson part of the week.
Rev. Wachtel and wife of Rulo are
visiting relatives here this week.
. O. 15. Zook attended to business in
Omaha the latter part of the week.
Mrs. R. R. Pliilpot left Friday for a
few days visit with relatvies in Lin
coln.
Miss Made Varner was detained
from her school duties because of
sickness.
John Ross left Sunday for Clifton.
Knasas, where he will spend a short
time with friends.
Miss Hazel Woolsey of Tecumseh
spent the first of the week with rel
atives in this city.
Tile Alpha Club met Monday after
noon in the K. of P. Hall. A special
program was rendered.
Mrs. Wm. Reise returned to this
city the last of the w'eek after spend
ing Some time in the east.
Miss Hula Miller of Burchard was
a guest of her friend Miss Jessie Dra
per, the first of the week,
Chas. Powers returned to his home
in this city Wednesday, after spend
ing several days in Kansas City.
Charles Neher and wife of Seattle,
Washington, are guests at the home
of D. M. Neher and wife in town.
John Kuper living north of Hum
boldt sold four hogs the first of the
week, the average weight being *120
pounds.
The Nemaha Dredge Company
having completed their work in this
section loft the first of the week for
Preston.
Roy Dean and Harry Pennington j
who together purchased the butcher
shop of W P. Collins, took possess
ion , Monday morning.
Miss Maybelle Davis who is a
student in the State University re
turned home Saturday and will re
main until she recovers from thovgrip

Mrs. E. E. Meyers entertained
Thursday and Friday afternoon in ho

Trail was the leading feature on
both occasions.
Miss Stella Finch left Saturday for
Omaha, where she will remain a shor
time before leaving for Seattle, Wash
where slie will continue to follow her
profession as nurse.

girl baby, January 22.
Emma Wetzel spent last week vis
iting with her parents.
John Hutchings was the guest of
the Prater Bros. Sunday.
S. H. Knisely and wife visited with
Eph. Peck and wife, Sunday.
H. Beechy and wife were guests of
W. Nedrow and family, Sunday.
Mrs. Sturms and children were
guests of Mrs. E. Higgins, Sunday.
Earl Schaffer and family spent last
Thursday with the formers parents.
Laura Ruegge visited with her sis
ter Mrs. E. M. Kimmel last. Sunday.
Vera Shaffer was a guest of her
Uncle Frank and family Sunday
night.
John Lundy who has worked for Ed
Kimmel for sonje time left for Den
ver. Colorado last Saturday.
John Deitrich returned this week
from Pnnsylvania, where he was call
ed by the death of a relative.
John Fields and wife entertained an
old friend of theirs last, week, who
came from Hot Springs, S. Dakota.
Mr. Frazier returned to his home
in St. Joe, Missouri, last week after
a few days visit with His neiee Mrs.
Guy Lichty.
Anson Knisely and wife- enjoyed a
visit from Henry Brim and wife of
near Sabetha. Kansas. Mr. Brim is
a brother of Mrs. Knisely.
A series of meetings were begun at
Maple Grove church. Sunday and Mo
day evenings of next week Rev. Brew
er of Omaha will fill the pulpit.
Everybody is cordially invited to at
tend the meetings.

Lincoln last week.
Mrs. Willard has been the victim of
the grippe the past week.
Elmer Else and wife were trading
with our merchants on Tuesday.
George Brisby and wife of Verdon
came up Monday for a brief visit.
Maggie Weick assisted Mrs. Frank
Mullen with her house work last week
Joe Higgins made a business trip
to Lincoln. Saturday, returning, Mon
day.
Mrs. Ella Slagle went to Omaha,
Monday for a few days visit with
friends.
Col. Joe Harper has been quite sick
tile past week and is not able to car
ry the mails.
Col. John Speece of Ord, Nebraska,
arrived last Thursday for a weeks
stay with relatives.
Mrs. Judge Shurtleff was called to
Washington, Kansas by the serious
illness of her mother.
Mrs. Lank Shaffer of Barada was
the guest of her sister Mrs. Ella
Slagle one day last week.
M. H. Taylor has been carrying the
mail between here and Sella during
the illness of Mr. Harper.
Ray Wiles and wife of Glenwood.
Iowa, came down Saturday to spend
a few weeks with home folks.
Mr. and Mrs. Chns. Felt of 7,aird
Colorado, attended the funeral of the
hitters mother, Mrs. Lucy Shubert
here last Friday.
