Dr. Tucker’s Lecture.
1 Those who had the pleasure of
hearing Dr. Francis Tucker lecture
at the Presbyterian Church last
Thursday night feel abundantly repaid
and had their minds fed with such
facts concerning missionary life and
work in China as will be continual
benefit to them. Dr. Tucker speaks
from absolute knowledge acquired by
himself and his estimable wife in
their eight years daily association
with Chinese people. The stere
optican views were vivid and inter
esting and impressed the fact by il
lustration where words would carry
less weight. The church was well
filled and every member of the large
assembly was (flighted -with the lec
ture. Those who were prevented
from hearing it. feel keen regret. On
Friday and Saturday the collection
of curios was again displayed, this
time for sale and the patronge was
liberal. The proceeds go to the
Chinese Hospital fund, for the im
proving of the. hospital at Dr. and
Mrs. Tucker’s station.
