Mrs Barry and Miss Etta Shee han came u; from Atchison Sat urday to attend the funeral of Pat Casey, which was held in this city Monday morning. Mrs. J. M. Jellison returned to Auburn the latter part of the week after spending some time in the city helping care for her lather, Chris Hershey- who has been very sick. Mrs. G. W. Bartlett returned Wednesday to her home in Falls City, after a week spent at the bedside of her mother, Mrs John Burke, whose condition is practi lally unchanged.— Rulo Register. Ouite a little excitement was created Monday morning at the Shildneck hardware. A lot of old brick had been removed from the walls and piled on the tin roof. The rafters gave way un der the ioad shoving the rafters and bricks through the store room ceiling between the joice. Alexander of Dawson has pur based the saloon stock of Mr- Orville Schoenbeit and will try t > secure a license and run a saloon at that place this year. Messrs Ray Zimmerman, Ben and Ralph Dillv of Hiawatha, re turned home Saturday. They came up Friday to attend the junior reception held that even inp. Mrs Joseph Otney of Barnes, Kansas, is in the city visiting rel atives. She was called here the latter part of the week by the death of her nephew, Orville Schoenheit. Mr- and Mrs. August Metx.ner and daughters Anna and Blsie.of Preston, were in this city shop ping one day the latter part of the week. Mrs. Bruno Hanson returned to her home in Omaha Friday, after spending several days with her parents, W. II. Kerr and wife at this place. Mr. Hanson who was visiting here, returned home several days ago. James Bunch of Hamlin was here the latter part of the week visiting his father. J. A. Bunch, on route one. lie was a very pleasant caller at this office on Saturday. W. C. Sloan and Lawrence Corn of Verdon, attended a ses sion of the I. O. (>. F. lodge in city Friday evening. Oliver Emmert from near Sa betha was in the citv Monday cn route home from a trip to South Dakota, where he went to tile on his claim. \Nill Burnett and wife of Chi cago, were here Thursday the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Werner and Mrs. Laura Daxton. Mrs- V. E. Emmerson was down from Vcrdon the latter part of the week looking after business and visiting friends. Mrs. W. C. Sloan and two children of Verdon, spent a few davs in this citv with her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Ilossack. While in the city Sunday, Ew ing Herbert met with an automo bile accident and had to secure help to get his car home. Warren Nicholson left Satur day morning for St. Joe, where he will spend some time visiting relative^ and friends. Mrs. Mary Wicks left Satur day for Kendrick. Idaho, to make an extended visit to her daughter Mrs. Margaret Lew’is. W. K. Davis. Robert Kanaly and J. P. Mooney were business visitors at this place the latter part of the weok. The Willing Workers of the Christian Church held an apron sale at the Variety store Friday and Saturday. In the docket for the May term of the district court of Brown county, there are twenty divorce case'- tiled. Wm. Stewart and wife of Re* serve spent Sunday in this city with their daughter, Mrs. Henry Most man. George Prater and wife left Friday morning for St. Joe. to look after business and to visit relatives. Zetta Camblin, Jessie Paxton, L. C. Edwards and Joe Miles spent last Sunday at Sycamore Springs. J. R. Cain and family spent Sunday in Hiawatha with Mr. Cain's daughter. Mrs. Mayme McCoy. Mrs. E. S. Cooper ot Humboldt spent a part of the week in the city, the guest of Mrs. M. L. Wil son. Sheri:! Fenton went to Dawson Sunday to visit his parents, who are in poor health. J. II. Miles is spending this week at Excelsior Springs. Remember the play at the Geh ling Monday evening. J. L.
