Miss Mary Cashman of Barns ton, Neb-, spent Saturday in this city at the home of Wm-Higgins. Eve had almost as much trou ble in the Garden of Eden as the average woman of today has with her help. Wm. Strunk was down from Dawson Friday. While here he gave us a liberal check on sub scription. The man who can have every thing he wants, often discovers that he takes on a lot of excess baggage. T. J- Feasel of Humboldt spent the past week in this city. He received treatment of Dr.Burchard while here. Miss Laura Diamond of Omaha returned home Sunday after vis iting her cousin. Yutzy of Minneapolis, Minn., who is visiting in the city, called and renewed his subscrip tion to the Tribune. Editor Robinson and wife of Franklin, Neb-, were in the city Saturday enroute to Hiawatha. The former made this office a pleasant call W. R- McFarland and family who have been visiting at the homes of Dr. Roberts and M- B. Sharp returned to their home in Omaha, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. H. Clay Yutzy and children o f Minneapolis, Minn-, are here visiting at the home of the former’s father, Dr. J. C- Yutzy- Mr. Yutzy is trav eling freight agent for the Min neapolis & St. Louis R. R. Mrs. D. P. Lowe and sot: Cecil spent last week with the formers daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Morris at Bethany- On their way home they visited James Morris and family at Stella. Mrs. Lowe re turned Thursday but Cecil did not return until Sunday. George Wahl and wife went to Kansas City and visited friends and relatives. George returned home Sunday, but his wife re mained for a longer visit. When the Sundays liool teach er asked an Iowa boy, '‘What is the greatest of virtues*!1” he re plied glibly: "Buttin' in!** Mrs. Lary Pore came down from Omaha Sunday and will spend some time in this city with her brothers and sisters. Mr and Mis. Harner of Mt. Pelier, lnd., were in the city dur ing the week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Guy Greenwald. Mrs. Margery Grant left Tues day for an extended visit with her daughter, Mrs. T. O’Haren at Artesia, New Mexico. A number of the business men closed their places of business New Years day and gave their employees a vacation. This week the Tribune receiv ed a postal with the portrait of L. II. Rohmever our German newspaper man on it. And with it came a New Years greeting. Mrs. G. W. St umbo and daugh ter, Jennie l’earl returned to their home in Lincoln Saturday after a visit at the home of Sam Prater and family. Harry Pittock returned to St. Joe the first of the week, where lie is attending Ainsworth col lege. He spent a two week’s va cation in this city with his mot her. Mrs. Jane Shoup returned home the latter part of the week after spending some time with relatives in Colorado. Mrs. Rose Heaston and two little daughters returned Sunday from Stella, where they spent a few days with relatives. Frank TefTt and Clyde White of Lincoln spent Sunday in this city the guests of Grace Hoppe and Verna Story. James Grant, of Margrave’s ranch, saw “The Toymaker’s Dream ’ at the Gehling Saturday night. J. II- Miles returned this week from California. He was called here by the illness of his son Joe, Karl Camblin returned to Ross, Wyoming, after spending some time with relatives here. Verna Story is sick this week and Rosa Wolff is taking her place at the telephone office. Joe Culp of Hooper, Colo., is visiting his sister, Mrs. Grant Windle in this city. Rev. K. J. \V. Harris was down from Stella Monday. Never run an account with the milk man. He may chalk it up! Mrs. Allie Watson went to Peru Wednesday to attend the wedding of a relative. Mrs. John Crook was called to Marysville, Mo., Monday by the illness of her uncle. Mrs. George Albright and two daughters. Flora and Minnie, were Dawson visitors Sunday. Mrs Sansom of Humboldt was in the city the guest of her daugh ter, Mrs. Charles Sharis over Sunday. Walter, Murt and D. Colson ot the west end of the county were business visitors here the first of the week. Mrs. J. M. Jellison, who has been confined to her bed for the past two weeks, has sufficiently recovered as to be able to sit up. The electric theater will be completed in a few days and will be a very comfortable room. The floor is being raised and will seat about 300 people. \V. II. Julian and wife, who have been visiting at the home of J. R. Cain, left this week for Bozeman, Mont,, to visit Mrs. A von Oven. From there they will go to their home at Long Beach, Cal. Ingraim Cain returned this week to Chouteau, Mont., after spending a short time on a visit with his parents in this city. On his way there he will stop at Bozeman, Mont., to visit his cou sin, Miss Lettie von Oven. B. F. Jorn of near Verdon call jed at this office Wednesday and subscribed for the Tribune. lie iniortns us he will leave this week for Norcater, Kansas where he has bought land and will make his home in the future. A. N. Harris and wife of Shu bert were in the city the first of the week helping care for their son, Jesse, who had his limb broken in a runaway last Thurs day. The patient is at the home of P. S. Heacock and is resting nicely. I)r. Wilson arrived in the city tlie first of the week and is now located over Samuel Wahl's store in tlie office with Dr. W. S. Fast, and will have complete charge from now on. Dr. Fast will re main in the office with Dr. Wilson until March 1st. On Mon da 3' while Frank Knick erbocker was out on the ice wagon a blanket blew oil of one of the horses and the team became frightened and ran away. In making an elTort io stop them Frank caught his hand on a nail and badly cut his left thumb. On Tuesday evening the lire department was called to the home of Paul llessler in the east part of town and on arriving found a chimney burning out. It was fortunate the lire was no worse for the wind was blowing a gale and was a bad night for a lire. A "I’rince of Sweden” has met with instantaneous success. It is an interesting story with delight ful comedy, sensational scenes and many delightful pictures ol the Northwest around Sweden, Min nesota, and appeals to the public. The character, “‘A Prince of Sw. den,” that good natured Swede, always creates a scream and a comedy that will be as loving a stage character as that of Uncle Josh in “The Old Homestead’ and the popularity of this play will never diminish, but will live with the theatre-going public as the years pass by. The chorus girls were good and the musical special ties were a little better than the average. All who were present seemed well pleased with the play. Mrs. J. E. Wilhite returned Thursday from K a n s a s City where she had been visiting her son, Jule Schoenheit- She reports him some better, but at this writing not able to sit up vet. lie has spent several weeks at Ex celsior Springs. The cit) council met in regular Session at the council rooms Mon day evening. No business of much importance was transacted except the allowing of the several bills, that always come before them at the first of each month This week Joe Miles, Jr. who has been suffering from typhoid fever for several weeks and was improving, is reported to be in a dangerous condition. A doctor from Kansas City was called to this place Monday to see him. Mrs. W. S.
