Warren Griggs is doing nicely with
his injured arm. The doctors think it

There has been a great deal of talk
here ot late about extending the lights
to Shubert and light their city from
this place.
The ladies of Lutheran church gave
a bake sale Saturday afternoon and
took in *15 which they will use instead
of soliciting for the Christmas time as I
heretofore.

Pugh restaurant. The more business
increases the more repairs they must j
have on hand.

Mifts Hacker is to be married to Harry

H. K“ Walker, the night operator
went to Leavenworth Thursday to visit
his parents, returning Saturday. Mike
Malter took his place while gone. Mr.

Klmer Keimers will move his barber
shop across the street into his father’s

M. Shafer tried his auto Wednesday
and found it run pretty good about
town but when he got out in the coun
try it refused to go and Burt Curtis
hitched it on behind his wagon and
brought it to town.
W. A. Vandeveer sold his farm of i)0
acres Wednesday to J. T. Curtis for
$10,500. Mr. Vandeveer gives posses
sion the 1st of March at which time he
will move to his farm in Antelooe
county. Burt Curtis will sell his land
near McCook and farm the place his
father has just bought.
E. M. Wilson had a narrow escape
from the cogs of a corn sheller one day
this week while helping his brother
run the sheller. He was working about.
the machine when his jacket became
entangled in the gearing drawing him
into the sheller. but as luck hud it he
was too quick and tore his jacket olT
thus saving his arm.
Ernest U’arne one of the proprietors
of tiie Florence Hotel, while starting a
lire Saturday met with an accident. Me
had gotten up from breakfast and
found the lire very low and though he
would start it quickly and threw in
some coal oil which caused an explo
sion burning the right side of h's face
very badly, but it is thought there will
be no bad results.

Charlie Miller was quite badly burtj
last week by falling off a high bridge

A painter from Lincoln came Mon
day to help with the work on the new
church, as they wish to give a Christ
mas entertainment on Christmas eve.
The furnace has been put in place and

Mrs. Boss Kinton is still confined to
her bed, but it is thought that she will
soon be out again.

ing and fixing her yard which adds
greatly to its appearance.

ler sale at Barada Friday and report
everything brought a fair price.
Mrs. Hall of E’kCreek who has been
visiting here parents here for some
time returned to her home Saturday.
Earl Butler and wife who sold their
farm belongings at public auction took
the train here Friday for Peru where
they will make their home.
Kd Graham and Mrs. Lena Gerdes of
| Hildreth. Neb., were married Satur
day, Rev Rueh officiating. Mr.Graham
has a host of friends who wish for him
1 and his wife a happy life.
Bill Motsinger and family formerly
of this place, but who have rpade their
home in Indian Territory during the
past year arrived here Tuesday. Bill
thinks there is no place like Shubert.
A large number of the members of
the Degree of Honor met Wednesday
and initiated ten new candidates and
elected new officers. Several visitors
were present from Verdon. Light re
freshments were served and a good
time had by ail present.

nesday where he will be employed in

for their future home near Kavenna,
where they have purchased a farm.
Lulu Hummel who is attending the
university conservatory ol music in
Lincoln is visiting home folks. Her
mother has been in very poor health of
late.
Ed Rist, Will Gutzmer, Hubert
Veits and Arthur Stalder arrived here
Saturday from Davidson, Canada,
where they have been spending the
past nine months on their claims.

While Tom Crollirs was in our city
lie accidentally caught his foot in a
crack in the cement side walk and felt
and broke his arm. The little fellow
is getting along nicely and we hope for
his speedy recovery.
Irene Caller aud Tom Kates were
married Dec. 12. The bride is a well
known young lady living near Rule.
