Martin on Monday received the sad news of the death of their mother Mrs. John Martin at Paonia. Colorado. Mrs. Martin for manv years resided near Falls City but for the past 18 years has been a resident of Colorado. VERDON Harry Haldwin who has oeen very ill is much better. Nevada Hays returned from Kansas City Thursday where she had been vis itiuglher sister. J. R. Cain, jr.,and wife went to Paw nee Monday to attend a banquet of the Masonic order. Mrs Charles Shafer came home from the hospital Wednesday and her eyes are much improved. Jeff Warlield while scuttling with Pat Dempsey Friday at school fell arid broke his collar bone. Joe Nedrow went to Falls City Wed nesday and visited relatives and then went to Norton, Kansas, to visit. C. A Lord and family, and Misses Nusbaum and Iinler came over from Shubert Thursday and visited friends. Next Sabbath is Xmas Sabbath at the Lutheran church and the choir are preparing special music for the occa sion. E. S. Mickey, son of Gov. Mickey is acting as state bank examiner in this section and examined the bank here Saturday. Dr. Coles lecture on Wednesday was well attended and everyone heard a very interesting lecture on the cliff dwellers of Arizona. While Mrs. Gergens was doing some trading at the drug store Saturday,her little daughter was bit by a dog, but not bad, the scare was worse than the bite. Monday an unknown man tried to steal the overcoat out of Ed Work man's buggy, but was caught in the act. As the marshal was not around at the time he was turned loose. Mart Gergens and family left for their new home at El Reno. Their visit was shortened here on account ol the illness of Mrs.Gergen’s father who is very ill at his home in El Reno. The band bovs met Tuesday nighl and practiced some old music. Several new players are in the band and the outlook Is good for a strong band the coming seasoD. All thev need is the town to give them a boost, by securing them a leader. The arm of Warren Briggs had to be amputated the second time Saturday. The arm wa9 taken off about half way between the elbow and shoulder. It was feared that gan green had set in and the arm was amputated the first time leaving the bruised part of the arm still on. thus eausing it not to heal well. The last reports are that he is resting well. It is believed he will soon be on the road to recovery. FARGO Barney Wisman was seen on our streets. Morris Mandeville w a s shopping here last week. Henry Sholl transacted business at the county seat. Pearl Waggoner was a county seat visitor this week. Miss Jackson of this vicinity was a I county seat visitor. Mrs. Anna Haunks was a county seat visitor Saturday. Dan Waggoner was seen viewing main street Saturday. Bill Strecker made a trip to the county seat Wednesday. Maggie Mandeville was seen view ing our streets one day last week. John Shulenberg and wife were in Kails <'ity shopping one day last week. Tom Wright caught quite a number of lish and was out. selling them last week. Jack Briggs who was visiting here has returned to his home at Hiawatha, Kansas.
