visitor in our city Saturday.
John Philpot was down from
Humboldt the first of the week.
John Kanaly of Rule was in
Falls City the first of the week.
A. C. Surman of Armour added
his name to our eyer increasing :
list on Monday.
"We stood on the corner" and
watched the people pick their
way on the concrete walks.
Mrs. Margaret Maddox re
turned Sunday from a few days
visit with friends in. Wymore.
A. J. Baldwin of Stella was
looking : after business interests
in this city the first of the week.
Arthur W. Wing : , who has
spent the past few months in
Oklahoma , returned home Mon
day evening.
Miss Stella Knickerbocker has
been absenffrom her post of duty
in the office of Judge Gagnon this
week on account of illness.
George Cleveland made a busi
ness trip to St. Joe Monday. It
keeps Mr. Cleveland busy buying
goods for his immense holiday

' in Wichita , Kas. , for the past
three months with his sister ,
( Mrs. John Holland , returned
home bunday.
Al Doerner was out bright and
early Tuesday morning trying to
"cutter , " but finally concluded
i he would have to wait for a little
more of the beautiful.
George Jaquet , a student at the
Illinois Universityof Champaign ,
III. , came home Sunday and will
visit with his parents in this city
for the next three weeks.
D. W. Sowles has a very pretty

Warren Randolph Yeokel of
Hiawatha will conduct services
in the Episcopal church in this
city Sunday mornintj. Rev.
Neide will go to Hiawatha to
admister the Christmas com
munion to the members of the
Episcopal church in that city , on
Sunday morning.
M. B. Sharp is a new subscriber
this week. Mr. ' and Mrs. Sharp
have recently moved to this city
from Omaha and are building a
commodious home in the north
part of town. The } ' concluded
however that they could not go
to housekeeping without the
Tribune and called this week to
add their name on our list.
The first of the week Fred
Sebold brought into this office a
cat fish of the spoon bill variety ,
which he had secured at Rule , it
having been caught in the
Missouri. It weighed about
fifteen pounds and its bill was
fully eighteen inches long.
These fish are a rare spe'cie and
proved quite a curiosity to those
who saw it.
F. C. Kelsey is a new sub
scriber this week.
Mrs. M. A. Frank icturncd
Friday from a visit with relatives
in St. Louis.
Mrs. John Gehling left Friday
for Goshen , Wis. , called there by
the serious illness of her father.
Mrs. Sarah Minnick went to
Hiawatha the latter part of the
week where she will visit with
relatives until after the holidays.
Harry Lum , Chris Zorn and
Josh Bloom came down fromVer-
don , Friday , to be in attendance
at a meeting of the I. O. O. F. ,
that evening.
Mrs. Jane Bohrcr fell off the
porch at her home Saturday even
ing and received bruises which
will confine her to the house for
severai days.
Mrs. Poteet brought Miss Leah
home from the hospital in St
Joseph Saturday night greatly
improved and on the road to com
plete recovery.
The plata glass window in the
front of the post office broken
some time ago by a boy spinning
a top , was replaced by a new
one the first ot the week.
Judge Raper arrived in the
city Saturday night and started
the wheels of justice to grinding
early Monda7 morning at which
time the Ellington murder trial
came up for hearing.
A great many of our exchanges
appeared last week in holiday
dress. Among these is the
Tarkio Herald , published in
Tarkio , Mo. , and reflects much
credit upon its editor , L. E.
Schaeffer.
In another column of the
Tribune will be found the pro
gram of the midnight service to
be conducted a t the Episcopal
church Christmas eve. It will be
found most interesting and a
cordial invitation is extended to
all to attend.
The third of the series of Ad-
yent sermons by Rev. Neide was
delivered Sunday evening at the
Episcopal church , and drew a
good crowd. His subject , "Hell"
was handled in a most able man
ner and gave his hearers much
food for thought. HU subject
for next Sunday evening will be
"Heaven
Herman Koehler informs us
that his public sale held on Fri
day , the 13th , was one of the
most successful ever conducted
in this vicinity , thus proving
the falsity of the old saying that
the above day and date are un
lucky. Mr. Koehler and family
left Monday morning for their
new home in Alabama.
The News came to us last week
in Holiday attire and is a work
of art. It is a 20 page paper
and is filled with bright newsy
reading as well as a most liberal
advertising patronage by our
business men. The Holiday
edition of the News has made its
appearance regularly for several
years and each proves better than
the preceding one. showing that
Davis & Davis are artists in their
line.
Frank Simon was up from
Rule Friday.
Jim Malone was down from
Salem Thursday.
Charley McCool of Salem was
in the city Saturday.
Fred Sebold was business
visitor in Salem Thursday.
H. C. Smith was a Salem visitor
one day the last of the week.
Tom Gaston of Merrill , Kas. ,
was in the city Friday evening.
Mrs. Addie Bowker of Rule
has our thanks for cash on sub
scription this week.
H. E. Lemon is among the
faithful ones to add to our fund
during the last week.
Wes Nedrow and family lett
Saturday for a few day's visit
with his brother at Stella.
Mrs. Katherinc Wylie spent
the past week with her daughter ,
Mrs. Allan D , May. in Auburn.
Tom McLane came up from
Kansas City Friday , for a short
visit with his sister , Mrs. M. A.
Frank.
Karl Rauch came down trom
Stella Friday just for the purpose
of contributing to our subscrip
tion fund.
Mrs. Rose Heaston and chil
dren left last week for Glenelder ,
Kan. , where the3r will visit until
after the holidays.
Mrs. J. A. Heim came down
from Dawson Saturday to inter
view our merchants. She called
on the Tribune while in our city.
Mrs. Charlie Leister and son ,
Henry left Saturday morning for
Columbus , Ohio , where they
will spend some time with the
former's daughter.
John Hossack called Saturday
and renewed his subscription to
the Tribune. He also ordered
this family necessity sent to his
sister , Mrs. J. W. Freel , at
Soldierj Kas.
S. B. Hoffnell , now of Abilene ,
Kas. , came up Thursday for
a short visit with friends. Mr.
Hoffnell likes his new home , but
gets homesick for his old Falls
City friends.
The Tribune this week added
some new machinery to their
already well equipped office , and
are now better prepared than
ever to turn out first class job
work. Give us a call.
Oddic Lapp was on the sick
list this week.
Fred Lchnherr was down from
Humboldt Monday.
Here's hoping Sauta Glaus will
not miss a home in Falls City.
Jake Snethcn ot Dawson , was
a business visitor iu this city
Monday.
Mrs. Levi Xubrick made a
hurried business trip to St. Joe ,
Saturday.
F. P. Page came down from
Dawsou Monday and spent the
day with friends.
Mrs. Peter Rcsterer leaves this
week for an extended visit with
her mother in Oklahoma.
F. W. Samuelson came down
from Lincoln and spent Sunday
with his family in this city.
Mrs. J. G. Ranger drove down
from Salem and spent Sunday
with her daughter , Mrs. Everett
Scott.
R. S. Malony went to Lincoln ,
Saturday and will spend a few
weeks visiting with Will Ungles
and family.
Miss Lillian Banks went to
Kansas City , Saturday , where
she will visit for a few days and
do shopping.
Tom Palmer arrived in the
ctiy the latter part of the week ,
called here by the serious illness
of his brother Joe.
Chas. Huber of Rule has been
appointed deputy district grand
master of the I. O. O. F. for the
ensuing. This , is an honor be
stowed upon a most deserving
party.
Billy Ungles of Lincoln , was
in the city Friday renewing old
acquaintances. This is Billy's
first visit to Falls City for a
number of years and it kept him
busy trying to make the rounds.
C. C. Bletcher of Rule was in
the city Monday , and while here
made the Tribune a very pleas
ant call , paying ih advance to
1911 for this great weekly.
This shows how he appreciates

A baby boy came to gladden
the home of F. Farrington
and wife on Friday of last week.
The little one only lived for a
short time , however , when its
spirit was wafted back to the
One who gave it. The sorrowing
parents have the sympathy of all.

Notwithstanding the bad
weather Saturday was a very
busy day in this city. The
merchants did an immense busi
ness and Santa Glaus , was very
much in evidence.
Mrs. C. Ashby of Tarkio , Mo. ,
spent a portion of this week
with friends in this city. While
here she interested herself in the
workings of our humane society
with the intention ot organising
a like society in her home town.
There will be a special Christ
mas service in the First Presby
terian church next Sunday morn
ing , when the music , songs , and
sermon will all move in the
direction of the Christmas Spirit.

Farmers Institute Meeting
There will be a meeting at the
county clerk's office December 21
at 2 p. m. of all those interested
in the best institute in the coun
ty. We want as many of the
members as can to be with us and
especially do we need each and
every member of the executive
