Wintcrbottom was a n Atchison visitor Sunday. . Mr. and Mrs. Ed May of Salem were in the city Sunday. Will Rieger went to Lincoln Monday on a short business trip. Rev. Davis of Pawnee City visited friends in this city the first of the week. Wm. Cade and wife spent the latter part of the week with friends in Nemaha precinct. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Johnston and baby of Superior , are visiting1 relatives in the city this week. II. F. Krouse of this county had three carloads of feeders yes terday on the Kansas City market. Mrs. C. K. Cooper of Hum- boldt , was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Will Holt the first of the week- Mr , and Mrs. John Martin of Lincoln were in the city this week guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. Giannini. A great many out of town people were in attendance at the Elks' Memorial service Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. George Wahl re turned Saturday from a visit with Mrs. Wahl's sister in Kan sas City. Mrs. Barney Eiting and little son , of David City > Neb. , were guests at the home of Father Bex this week. The next attraction at the Geh ling will be the old favorite , Yale's "Devil's Auction,1'on Thursday , December 12. Dr. and Mrs. Henderson and Mrs. Cunningham of Rule , were in the city Sunday to attend the Elks Memorial service. Abaut one hundred basket ball enthusiasts of Humboldt accom panied their teams to this city to root for the Thanksgiving games. Miss Nellie Downs is again at tending to her duties in the office of John Powell , after a week spent at home on account of ill ness. Rev. Dr. Bailey , pastor of the Presbyterian church attended a meeting of the Presbytery which met in Lincoln on Tuesday of this week. Mrs. J. R. Cain of Stella visit ed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Cain in this city Sunday. Mrs. Gain came down to assist in the Elk Memorial services. T. W. Miller , younger brother of our Anderson Miller , accom panied by his wife , came down from Omaha the latter part of the week to visit relatives. Mrs. C.I. . Wilson went to St. Joe , Saturday to meet her daugh ter , Miss Anita , who has spent the past few months in Cleve land , Ohio , both returning home Sunday. The Highlander drill team entertained the members of the lodge and a few friends at their hall Thursday evening. Cards and dancing with a bounteous lunch made up the program of a very pleasant evening. "Pickings from Puck" drew a fair sized audience Monday even ing and all were pleased with the production. The chorus was ex ceptionally strong , while the songs were new and catchy. All together , the show is a good one. L. C. Edwards spent Sunday in Ilumboldt. Mrs. Carrie Paxton is visiting relatives in Kansas City this week. H. C. Peck on route 2 has our hanks for cash"on ' "subscription his week. Will Kentner of Humboldt , vas a business visitor in the city Saturday. John Holechek of Hmnboldt was a business visitor in our city Saturday. Miss Clara Tanner was the ; uest of Humboldt friends on Thanksgiving. J. Wiseman of Rule remember- il the Tribune in a substantial way this week. Mrs. Herbert Hedges went to Kansas City , Friday , , to visit relatives for a week. Mrs. Crawford on route 1 , is among the many who remember ed the Tribune this week. Mrs A. G. Wanner and son re turned Saturday from a few days' visit with relatives in Rulo. "Judgment" is the subject of the sermon at the Episcopal church next Sunday evening. Mrs. Alidia Butler of Table Hock , is in the city , the guest of ler sister , Mrs. E. P. Sharts. E. G. Whitford and family went to DtiBois Saturday , to spend a short time with relatives. P. A. Miss Dorothy White returned to her work at the state univer sity Sunday , after a few days va cation with home folks in this city. Miss Crete Stewart of Hiawa tha , returned to her home Snn- day , after a few days spent in this city the guest of Miss Haze ! White. The local lodge of I. O. O. F. elected the following officers at their meeting Friday evening. Robt. Pruesse , N. G. ; Geo. Fall- stead , V. G. , and Frank Schaible trustee for three years. Mises Nelle Bratt and Alice Wilcox of North Platte , Neb. , spent last week in this city the guests of Mildred Holland. The three young ladies left Sunday to resume their studies at the State Uniyersity. Misses Ollie and Jennie Thompson , Fannie Powell , Reba Eversole and Miss Yocum re turned to their studies at the Peru Normal , Tuesday after a few days visit with home folks in this city. Mrs. Bert Moody returned Fri day from Forest City , Mo. , where she visited the past ten days with relatives. Thos. Mrs. Margaret M ddox return ed the first of the week from a' visit with her daughter , Mrs. Geo. Dietsch , in Hastings. Mrs. Chas. Rowe and Mrs. Chas. Hiawatha people are still mak ing a strenuous effort to secure our Prof. Harnack as a resident of that town , but we think the Professor prefers a good live town , so will remain in Falh City. . Ralph Jenne has severed his connection with the Sanderson Shoe Co. in Lincoln , and returned to his home in this city Thurs day. Hereafter he will be em ployed in the popular shoe par lors of H. M. Jenne.
