pany is busily engaged in build
ing their line towards this city.
The bitterly contested franchise
having been granted they can
now enter. Several minor de
tails have delayed them from
building before this , but now the
work is being pushed rapidly.

complete the sewer contract the
company is executing in Seattle.

started on the Missouri river and

once did years ago , we may ex
pect a revival of the old songs
such as "Steamboat comin' round

there is any place that can beat
our hazy , blue and white days of
the early fall we havn't been able
to find it.
A farewell reception was given
to Mrs. Goldner at the home of
Mrs. W. S. Leyda last Thursday
afternoon , by the ladies of the
Aid Society of the M. E. church.
Mrs. Goldner was presented with
a lovely spoon. The Goldners
leave soon for other parts.
The Ladies Auxilliary to the
Cemetery Association will meet
next Tuesday afternoon October
2nd at the home of Mrs. John
Holt. This will be the last
meeting of the association for
this year and a full attendance
of the members is desired.
The Missouri Pacific will sell
tickets to Omaha and return for
$3.40 on account of the Ak-sar-
ben. Tickets on sale Oct. 3rd to

Sunday was a quiet day in
Falls City. All the sports went
to Atchison to see the ball game ,
and all those who are not sports
spent the day in church going
and riding out into the country.
The streets were deserted all
day.
