The best education in the u oriel is that got by struggling to make a living. Wendell Phillips. Did you ever notice ho\v often the other fellow lacks judg ment ? We would never know hou foolish some men are if we did not elevate them to positions ol honor. A clear conscience afl'ordf more real happiness than any thing else that can be acquired on this , earth. You may havt to make some restitution before you can secure it , but it i ; worth the effort. Only weariness can sweetei rest. rest.To To revenge a wrong is to re peat it. Where no love is lost no lif < is found. Souls are not cemented b ; soft sawder. You never llnd truth by losin the temper. Straight lacing will not cut- crooked living. Delight is never found i llight from duty. Fruits ot faith come froi roots in character. There are no riches where th heart can tind no rest. He seals himself to nigli who sins against the light. Only through personal cha acter comes permanent civil/ ! ; tion. tion.He He cannot control the outpv of his life who does not guar its inlets. A man is often best known fc the thinks he keeps to himsel There is no virtue in the goc turn that you hope to turn inl A good trade. An imperfect deed of right better than the most comnle analysis of it. It is a hard matter to make woman believe that a man evi goes into a saloon to buy sot water or cigars. Don't say you have done yoi best when you haven't It npt to give a bad impression what your best really is. A fool doesn't envy you b cause you are smart ; a fo never knows he is a fool. Some men do an awful lot hard work looking for an ea job. job.If If a milkman will tell a pie of gossip while he is measuri out the milk , he can give she measure and never be caught it. Compliments like a g o c many things are indigestal unless taken with a little sa Some people think they ha done their duty if they expr < a willingness to do it. Men never seem to have a any trouble convincing the selves that what they do is right. The average man will stand a great deal better without hitch- ng than it he is tied to a pole. A man who knows he does lot deserve confidence , has very ittle confidence in other people. A boy can always have some sort of a good time if there is a log or something around. The only time a woman will confess her faults is when con- 'essing to someone who won't ) clieve them. The less interesting a man's experiences have been , the more likely he is to tell the story of lis life. Men look pretty well after all considering that they haven't the assistance of curls , combs ind hairpins. It seems to be a more import- nut factor in the sum of domes tic happiness , when a man and wife agree on what the } ' can ifford , than when they agree on the best poetry. Ten Years in llcil. The week footed up only 32,000 head , against 35,000 the previous week and 38,000 same week last year. Hulk of the supply came in Monday and Tuesday , especi ally Tuesday ; 13,000 cattle came in on that day , against 14,000 previous Tuesday. A heavy run at Chicago Monday depressed prices here 5 to 10 cents on plain heavy grades , and Tuesday's heavy supply here put them down 5 to 10 cents more. Light and handy weight steers and choice heavies did not loose over 5 to 10 cents for the week and strictly prime grades show no decline from last week's high level. Stocker ? and feeders closed the week 10 to 15 cents lower , same as previous week , having made no improvement. Top steers sold at $5.00 against $5.75 pre vious week. Heavy cows were active but plain grades closed the week 10 to 15 cents lower , veal calves 15 to 25 cents higher , up to Sfi.25. Run today 'J.OOO , mark et strong and active. The heavy run at Chicago Monday offset prices here and the market declined 10 to 20 cents first three days , but after Wednesday strengthened up and finally closed the weel ; shawing no loss from the close ol previous week.
