On 'Vednesday afternoon a hail
and wind storm swept over the
county between here and Salem
and did Considerable damage/rhc
wind struck at Elmer Coons place
where it destroyed his barn and
killed a large number of chicken
for : Mrs. Coon. Geo. Coons team
being driven by a young man
named Allen became frightened
and . 1\11' Allen
ran away.r. received -
ceivcd many severe bruises. The
hail extended over some territory
breaking many window lights
especially at Norman Forneys.
Hail caused J.C.Moreheads horse j
to run away during the storm .
breaking the hari1ess in many
pieccs. At Bud Poses it destroyed -
ed his new hay oarn.
There were many similar experiences -
periences in tliiy neighborhood
. and the . storm was a bad one.
'rhe storm also struct about
five 1 and a half miles south of this
place.
O. L. Band of Humboldt was
in town Thursday on business.
1'Pn. ' Palmer is suffering from
a stroke of apoplexy since Wednesday -
nesday evening.

spent this week here visiting her
mother 1\1 rs. Albert Norris who
is very sick.

The Ladies Music and Art club
met at the library building \Ion-
day afternoon a very inter =
erting paper on Japan was read
and illustrated by \Irs. Id\lillen.
At four o'clock a number of child-
ern from the 4th , 5th and 6th
grades assisted the lames in plant-
ing the flowers in the bed between
the library and the news , office.
The merchants of this city were
liberal in the donation of flowers
seeds.
