Easter Sunday.
Sunday was sufficiently pleas-
ant for my lady to don her spring
finery and take her more or less
willing husband to church.
Special services were had in all '
the churches and large crowds
attended both morning and eve-
ning services.
The several churches were
beautifully decorated with flow-
I ers , lilies prcdominating.
\ At the Methodist church R < > y.
Cline preached an appropriate
sermon j special music was rend-
ered by the choir and Miss : Rob-
bins sang a solo.
Low mass was celebrated at
the Catholic church at 8 a. m. ,
and high mass at 10 a. m. Father
'j ' Bex delivered an oration on the
y Iesurrection. : 'rhe regular musi-
cal service was had in its usual
excellent manner.
At the Christian a large congregation -
gregation listened to an able and I
.
earnest discourse by Re\ Cron-
berger : Special music was sung
by the choir and a duct was
pleasantly rendered by the Misses
Albright and Scars.
Th : decorations at the Epis-
copal church were especially
beautiful. A large audience was
present and participated in the
beautiful Easter service. Among
the special music was a solo by
1\1 rs. Ed : May.
The Brethren service was
:1 : ; ' largely attended. The church
i I was handsomely decorated with
I ; flowers and cut plants. A very
I ; 1 able sermon was delivered b.y the
t i pastor on "The Mission of : Men
Ii and Angels" Miss King , and Mr.
I Mathers sang a very pretty duct.
, 'rhe congregation at the Pres-
i byterian church was large. The
decorations were elaborate. Re\

Requisition Papers Denied
The News speaks of a request
for requisition papers made by
County Attorney James last
week , for a young man accused
of statutory rape.
The statement is made that
l\r. James thought Sheriff Hos
sack made it convenient to be ab-
sent so he would not have to go
after the pap : 's.Ve hope Mr.
James has been misquoted in this
matter , as we believe him too
fair a man to unjustly reflect on
any man. Those who know Mr.
Hossack , know that he never
shirks a duty however unpleasant.
Lieutenant Governor McGilton
heard tile matter of the requisi-
tion application on Friday of last
week. After hearing the remark-
able story of the girl's mother he
refused to issue the papers for
the reason as stated by him , that
it was a bold attempt to black-
mail the parents of the boy. He
stated that he did not intend in
any way to reflect on the county
attorney who had acted in good
faith , but that the testimony of
the mother was simply beyond
belief.
A Serious Operation.
. ' 1rs. B. L. Mettz submitted tea
a serious operation on Thursday
of last week. A number of years
ago a rose cancer manifested
itself in her right side between

Almost every man has Shoe Whims of his

Nothing irritates him more than. being urged .

I trouble until recently when it
began to grow rapidly. Dr. Fast ,
assisted by Dr. Burchard , removed
the growth. Dr. Henderson of
Rule was present as an especial
member of the family. Mrs.
Mettz withstood the ordeal splen-

Her physicians say her recovery
is assured.
