When Knapp , the strangler ,
was in the Ohio penitentiary with
a sentence of death passed upon
him , his attorneys tried to free
him by proving him insane. To

These letters were so frequent
that they became a source of
much annoyance to Miss : King
and she decided to bring them to
the attention of the prison authorities -
thorities , when about that time
she happened to be playing 1n
Cincinnati and was waited upon
by Knapp's attorney in an endeavor -
deavor to secure evidence in' favor
of Knapp's alleged insanity. Miss
King refused to become a witness
and likewise refused to give up
the letters , which to this day she
keeps as souvenirs. "
Strangler Knapp , vas hanged
in the .Ohio penitentiary a few
months later.
