Woman's Club Notes. Interesting facts brought out in thc District Convention of Woman's clubs last week which were crowded out of Tribune from lack of space. Mrs. H. M. Hitchcock of Lincoln - coIn remained in thc city a week after thc convention thc guest of Mrs. tl' J. Gist. Our city library was admired by many visiting dclcgatcs. Few towns of this size have such a good building nor a fine collection - ion of 1)OOkS. Eleven Lincoln ladies were in attendance at the convention. 'l ire } ' helped much in the interest - cst and enthusiasm of thc con- vention Twenty seven federated clubs were reported by delcgates. Of these Lincoln , Pawnee City , tI'e- cumseh , Humboldt and Falls City have the largest numbcr. There was general rejoicing over the passage of the Juvenile court law by the 1'g'islatul'c. \Voman's clubs of Nebraska have made every effort for ttte success of this mcasurc. There seems to be little inter- Cft taken by local clubs in the civil set vice law. Many wonder why the state organization is pushing this. Mrs. H , 1\1. Bu.shnel1 , stat president is favorably known 10 many Falls City women , she renewed - newed friendship besides making new aC1luaintanccs. Mrs. D. H. Hcndcrson wife of a Fall City Methodist pastor , twenty-thrcc years ago was one of the Lincoln delegates. Mrs. Hcndcrson is the soul of cheer- fulness in spite of her sc\'cnty- four years. Mrs. \V. M. Wilson who did much toward the succcss of the convention , together with the several committees arc entitled to the thanks of both thc home and visiting ladies for their efiici- ent work. Mr.s. A. \V. Field in her talk upon beautifying a town expressed - ed an objection to hand bitts be- ing thrown in her yard.She said if club women would boycott merch- ants who did this , it would go a long way toward stopping the . practice. She , also said that the time is fast approaching when ugliness is practically the same ns immorality. She advised a crusade against ugly advertising signs and images. Mrs. Field is among the , most' genuine and pratical of the women who visit- . . . ed , the convcntion. M s. Harpham president : of the \Voman's club of Lincoln created sonic surprise b.r her statement that the majority bf Club women are not in favor of' woman's suffrage - rage ' She favors the educational test ' as a remedy for existing bal- lot-box . evils adding that when \ ! " 14Irs. Harpham has a wide field of club activity , as she is president of an organiz- ation numbering 735 women , the third largest in the United States. Mrs. Glen expects - pccts to leave in a short time for Oklahoma where she will make her home with her daughter. Mrs. A. \V. Field spoke before the womans clubs at the M. E. church the immorality of - on ugliness - ness and cited as an instance ! dirty door yards and bill boards.
