thc matter at first , but who are
now among their most enthusiastic -
astic workcrs. This company is
no experiment , but is composed
of the best farmers in the cast
end of the county and it is now
up to our city council to repeal
thc present obnoxious telephone
ordinance that is our statutes and
treat our farmer friends fair by
letting them come into this city
on thc same terms that the local
company came in on. The longer
they wait to take action on this
matter the more strain will our
relations become with these farm-
ers and will in time cause a great
loss of business to our merchants
-
on account of it. : Can thc Coun-
cil afford to go against thc interest -
cst of all our merchants in order
to give the local company a
monopoly on the telephone busi-
ness of our city ? Wc think not.
Ruth merchants have lost hun-
dreds oj dollars in trade from
these same farmers for thc same
reason and it is only a matter of
time till they will place a boycott
upon our own city unless something -
thing is donc.
By all means , Gentlemen of thc
Council , bc fair and repeal this
ordinance.
