A Sabbath Ode.
By Rev i'Clutcol\
All hail ! thou blessed Sabbath day ,
'rhe day of joy and peace and rest j
The God madc ( lay for all mankind ,
The day wc ought to love thc bel'll.
'rhc day our God has set aside ,
A day to His especially given j
A day that we should honor well
Because i leads our thoughts to hca vcn.
Could wc have seen that : abbatlt ! day ,
011 which hc rested from his task
Of maId ng paradise for man j
No cause were there for liS to ask-
I'or l what had he created it ?
The solemn silence would hut awe.
The singing of the hcavcllly hosts
Would tell the cause of all we saw.

'l'hc Christian church gain
held a large and intcrcsted audience i-
cnce last Sunday evening , and on
, that occaision H.C\ Poug-eon used
for his subject "Superstition. "
. He placed before his hearers some
oj the religious and common superstitions -
erstitions that have before the
world for centuries. Hc told of
some of the superstitions hc came
in contact with while in Ireland
how the Irish people as a rule
were believers to a very great extent -
tent to the stories told in their
country about goblins , ghosts ,
fairies , and how superstitious they
were and arc along religious
lincs. But , he said thc Americans -
cans ' are much like thc Irish , they
have a great many religious and
common superstitions which they
believe in most thoroug-hly. Hc
urged upon his hearers the ncces-
sit ) ' of giving up their foolish
beliefs along these lines and their
duty of helping others do likc-
wise. Next Sunday evening he
will use for his subjcct-"Lessons
from "l'hat Printer of Udclls. ' "

begin at 7:30. : You are cordially
