Methodist church Sunday at the
usual hours. The pastor will

Saturday John icldloff , who
. lives nine miles north of this city ,
had the misfortune to be thrown
from a load of hay , dislocating
her wrist and suffering a coin-
pound fracture of the left fore
arm. Dr. Rush was summoned
and reduced ! the fracture. At
this writing the patient is resting
easi1)- .
Services as usual at the , Baptist
church. Dr. Selingcr will begin
a short series of summer discourses -
courses on the general subject ,
" 'l'hc Superiority of Jesus , " and
the first topic is I'Grcater than
Abraham. " In case of postponc-
ment of thc Salem chautauqua
evening services will be held as
usual.

consisting of Gertrude Linn and

and Jennie Prater , Carrel Pryor

Lord and wife five miles south
west of Salcm.
Hay Graham fell from a ladder
in the barn at his home last
Saturday morning and sustaimcd
a Collcs fracture of his wrist
Dr last was called and gave
him the necessary surgical atten-
tion , we are glad that tinder such
good attention Hay is getting
along nicely.
Henry Miller who is employed
by Coupe 'l'hornton while work" "
jug at the slaughter house last
Saturday had the misfortune to
fracture three bones of thc right
hanel. Dr. Fast reduced the
fracture and after a three weeks
lay ofT thc hand will bc as sound
as cver.
Mr. Phil Grinstead and wife of
Louisville , Ky. were in town a
few hours on 1'uesday. Mr.
Grinstead is at the head of
American Book company , thc
largest text book concern in the
world.
Minnie Jellison is the most
accomplished base ball rooter in
this neck of the woods. It is not
"an easy matter to beat Jim
. Powell but he always ships
when Mrs. Jellison gets intcrcst-

One evening last week a party
of twenty-two young folks gathered -
ed at the home of Irs. Schulcn-
berg to spend thc evening. Of
this crowd all were cousins but
onc.

state calm down to see the ele-

Mrs. 1\1. C. Conover and child-
ren were down from Verdon yes-
tenlay.
Band Concert.
Harnack's Military band will
give a concert tonight. All are
invited to come out and hear the
excellent music.

No Chautauqua. .
On account of the wet weather
the management of the Salem
chautauqua have decided to aban-
don the same for this year.
No Circus.
Owing to the recent heavy rains
which put the roads in such bad
condition that Ringling Bros.
were unable to get their heavy
wagons to the show grounds the
circus was dcclared ofT yesterday ,
and as a consequence there were
many disappointed people in
town. .
