Called ! home last Friday from the
convent at Falls City on account
of the dangerous illness of their
brother , Alex Tiehen.
H. A. 'riehen , who was so seriously -
iously ill with typhoid fever that
no hopes of his recovery were entertained -
tertaincd , is now a little improved -
ed and his many friends hope for
his ultimate restoration to hcalth.

Two broken arms is the record
for one day on account of the ice
at this placc. 'lrs. ' Bittner fell
on the ice in her yard and broke
her arm near the elbow , and 1rs.
Barney Riley broke her arm at
the wrist from the same cause.
lvIamie Ryan . was . hostess
to the ladies of the Candlelight
club last Wednesday c\'ening.
"IIearts" was the game of thc
evening , Miss O'Grady winning
first prize and Daisy Smith the
consolation. Everything was
carried out on thc "Hcart" ordcr.
The club meets next week with
Iamic Fcnton.

he had accepted a call to preach.

The members of the Congrega-
tional church have secured the
services of Rc\ Bohn for the
coming year. \Ve arc sorry in-

us but welcome thc new pastor.
A few weeks ago one of our
senior class 111 the high school
was one of the winners in ' the
county contest , later won in the
state contest at incoln. On
Ionday Prof. Funk in behalf of
the school board presented him
with a beautiful gold medal with
the inscription "Ray Arnold 1904
S. S. C. " showing their apprecia-
