The McCook Junior Normal has been for nine years one of
the strongest forces in advancing school conditions m Southwest
The school was established by act of State Legislature and is
supported by state money It offers to teachers and students of
the branches required
this part of Nebraska an opportunity -to review

Junior Normal schools were es
tablished by an act of the Ne

authorized to locate two others
which he established at Holdrege
and North Platte In 1907 the
number was increase to eight

The Cooperative Hospital
While the unfavorable weath
er during the past few weeks lias
interfered dn the active work of
the soliciting committee tlie
board ol directors have been ac
tively engaged in getting mat
ters in shape to give McCook a
hospital in the near future which
will be a credit to our city The
board of managers have been so
much encouraged of lateby prom
ises of assistance and the diffi
culty they have experienced in
leasing a suitable building in
which to establish the hospital
thati they have given up the idea
of leasing a building and liaive
decided to ask the citizens oif Mc
Cook to assist them to build
The board after careful consid
eration decided that it will re
quire in the neighborhood of 7
000 to complete and equip a build
ing that will meet the needs of
McCook and vicinity and are
considering the erection of a
brick building 36x50 feet with a
basement and two stories and
dormitory under the root for the
aeecanmedation of the help The
building will be large enough to
accommodate twenty five bads
with suitable parlor reception
room and up to date operating
room
A number of our citizens al

expressed a willingness to furn
ish rooms in the building aire

as soon as the building is com
pleted
