A Patriotic Exercise
The great object of the G A
R and W R C is the teaching
of patriotism love of country
love for the flag To this end
these organizations have jointly
prepared a patriotic exercise
for observance in the schools of
the state Tlids patriots ex
ercise consists of a salute to
the flag and of the singing of
the national hymn America
to be observed on the first Mon- j
day in each school month
each school room
The observance of this pat
riotic exercise has the hearty
endorsement of Hon James L
Delzell state superintendent al
so of the county superintendents
of the state in convention assem
bled on January 16 1912
At the expense of the W R
C twenty thousand cards con
taining the exercise have been
printed and the state superintend
ent lias caused a card to be
placed in each school room
Nebraska is the first state to
take up in a systematic manner
the teaching of patriotism in the
public schools
The observance of this pat
riotic exercise will tend to teach
a love and respect for our coun
try and for Old Glory among
the coming generation
It is hoped the observance of
the exercise wall meet with en
couragement and approval among
all the people
